Me and my cousin were watching a suns game and got to talking about Amare Stoudemire, he said that he was a future Hall of Famer, I was not so sure. My question is which players under 30 in the NBA right now look like future hall of famers?

Lebrons James no questions asked, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant (if he keeps this up) Brandon Roy, Melo, Bosh (has to win in the playoffs) Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Deron Williams thats all i got for now

  Fast forward 3 years to nov 25 2012
  
  Lebron – Yes (1 title, 3 mvps, tons of other accolades – 1st ballot duh even if he retires today)
  Wade – Yes (2 titles, high mvp finishes, other all-nba teams, all stars – 1st ballot most likely)
  Durant – Probable (scoring titles, all stars, all nba teams, 2011 nba finals….so far so good, just don’t get injured)
  Roy – No (haha that was joke right? injury setback but you need to be careful throwing in players like this)
  Melo – Maybe, but not a 1st balloter (if all he does is score and no hardware, it will be a long HOF wait for him)
  Bosh – No (only good stats on a crappy team and 3rd option (4th today with Ray Allen). unless Miami wins those 2,3,4,5,6,7 titles, then he is a lost cause)
  Howard – Probable (if he finishes career with no titles, will be compared to a Ewing or Barkley type player)
  Paul – Maybe (has some work to do, but can see him in unless he gets injured or stats fall off. would say no for now)
  Williams – Maybe (stats good, but has nothing else to back him up. too many good guards with stats. will have to wait to get in)

  I give Bosh a 90% chance of getting in. He’s only 28, is a 7 time all star, has career averages of about 20 and 9, and now is winning titles. And also, I think there is very little chance Roy gets in. His career would have been terrific but his injuries may push him to retire for good (is having another knee surgery). Unlikely a 3 time all star with no titles gets in.

that’s a good point, they were talking about mark jackson and Rodman probably won’t get into the hall of fame on nba.com. i didn’t know Bernard King wasn’t in the H.O.A. that’s sad.

Amare has a ton of work to do…Better yet Is Vince Carter a HOFamer? I hear people put Ray Allen in there(since the chip), he was definitley better then Ray through out his career..Whats your Thoughts on Tracy Mcgrady as well?

carlos boozer will be(team usa wins), and so will gilbert arenas, pau gasol, danny granger, igudala (possibly), Al jefferson, brandon jennings (anybody with a 26 ppg rookie average is considered HOF material for me.), tony parker, possibly rose, possibly rondo.
if amare wasnt so injury prone, and somehow started to put up somewhere near the same numbers as he did in 2005 he would have a good shot.

  Boozer – NO (good stats on an okay team (Utah) for a few years doesn’t cut it. becoming a roll player in his later years)
  Arenas – NO (likely to end up in jail HOF 1st)
  Granger – NO (see Boozer)
  Igudala – Maybe (only bc he was involved with USA as a roll player and became AI v2.0 for Philly and decent stats. has quite a bit of work to do)
  Jefferson – NO (maybe 1 or 2 years over 20ppg? seriously.)
  Jennings – NO (the 55 point game could be a curse for his career. don’t see him make an all star game..ever)
  Parker – Yes (3 titles and many all stars may just be all he needs, but may not be a 1st balloter)
  Rose – Maybe (1 MVP and eastern conf finals before injury set him on path, but may not ever recover, this is a tough buy, but he needs a least 3-4 more good all-star type years to be here)
  Rondo – Maybe (becoming a perrenial all star now, but needs more work to do)

mouchy out of tmac carter and ray allen, probably mcgrady has the best chance… he had some seasons where he averaged like 32 pts 8 boards 6 assists 1.5 steals 1.5 blocks…. which is insane…

also if you go to basketball-refrence.com and u check some of the older players out they will have career HOF probability %. tracy mcgrady comes in at a 97.5%….

Carter and McGrady are locks for the Hall of Fame. No one has ever said that winning is a prerequisite to enshinement, and while no Championships hurts their cases, these are two off the most talented shooting guards ever. As a matter of fact, very few players were as much of a threat shooting and driving to the basket. A well rounded floor game allows him to continue to be effective, and when its all said and done, he’s still probably one of the 5 most exciting players to watch of all time.

No chance that Iggy, Pau, Arenas,or Boozer get in. The HOF is for the best of the best and they do not qualify. Idk about your other ones either but Big Al and Granger are longshots right now but they are both young and talented enough to make a run.

esperanzafleet69 to be real none of the guys you mentioned are close to the HOF yet, Best chance is Pau Providing he get another championship and Tony Parker. I don’t believe TP is a Hofamer but he has an outside shot considering he is a winner.When evaluating HOFers you have to look at past players who have not made it to base an arguement. Guys like Benard King, Chris Mullen and Kevin Johnson! these guys were winners and put up monster numbers, look it up!..They are currently excluded. Some of these young guys are good players Ala Mitch richmond but not HOFers.

  Because he was a big name player who had some huge clutch shots, even if he was one of the most one dimensional guys in the league. Plus he’s the guy everyone thinks about when you talk about big time shooters (or at least he was until Ray Allen broke his record).

    Reputation alone doesn’t equal hall of fame. 5 time all star and 3rd team all nba three times, like you said one dimensional doesn’t scream hall of fame to me…

      He scored 25,279 points in his career, something only 15 players have done. He has more career points than Jerry West. He is 2nd in career threes made and third place isn’t even close. Arguably the greatest shooter of all time, I know the accolades don’t match up but being a big time cluth player definatly counts toward being in the Hall of Fame in my opinion.

        Actually 19 people did it and miller has less than a hundred point lead over west so that not that important. He never led a team to the finals as the main option had chances when mj retired isn’t top 40 in anything besides 3pt and free throws.

Most names of current players are covered, Slash’s longer list probably covers the general outlook fairly well with who are locks and who are contenders. A lot is subjective but being an MVP and having titles and being a near career 20ppg or titles and outstanding defensive or offensive passing skills etc are a fair starting point to look at.
