rtbtParticipantYou can’t always depend simply on who won the game to make evaluations.
NBADraft.net moved Florida ahead of Michigan State in their rankings after the University of FL won that big game on Friday. I can’t argue with the ranking because Florida won so it deserves to move ahead of State. However, if you examine the game a little closer, you might think Florida was lucky to win, and if there is a next time, it will be different, I predict State will win handily.
Here’s what I’m talking about, Michigan State out rebounded Florida 38 to 20 and they had 18 assists to only a meager 11 for Florida. Yes the Gators were lucky and won this time, but I always put my money on teams that dominate the boards and share the basketball.
Florida won the turnover battle big time [they had 12 steals] and that probably won’t happen if they play again.

McWinningParticipantyou cant say that if you have good hustle and scheme you can do that i think they might lose but its not because that wont happen again its because Michigan State has the better team and coach.

rtbtParticipantI’m sorry birdzilla, but I couldn’t understand what point or points you were trying to make.
Let me try to clear up my primary arguments. Teams that are fundamentally sound, as in rebounding and playing together, will win far more games than teams that lack those kind of fundamentals. In the Michigan State – Florida contest, State out rebounded the Gators almost two to one, as in 38 to 20. They also had far more assists, 18 to 11.
Florida won the game because Michigan State was careless and committed 22 turnovers. Being careless is the kind of error that can be corrected the next time they play. But playing one on one and failing to rebound missed shots are the kind of fundamental flaws that will catch up with a team over time. And that’s why I predicted that if and when they meet again, the results will be different.
