Tennessee men's basketball signs point guard Lamonte Turner

AP

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee has added point guard Lamonte Turner to its recruiting class.

Turner, a 6-foot-2 guard from Harvest, Alabama, graduated from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He joins a Tennessee team that has no other pure point guards on scholarship.

In a release announcing the signing of Turner, Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said that "he shoots the ball extremely well, makes great decisions on the court and I love his poise."

Turner is a cousin of former LSU and North Carolina State guard Ralston Turner.

Turner is the fifth member of a Tennessee signing class that also includes forwards Kyle Alexander, Ray Kasongo and Admiral Schofield and guard Shembari Phillips. Kasongo is a junior-college transfer who will be a sophomore this season. The other four signees are incoming freshmen.
