NBA Comparison: Andris Biedrins/Anderson Varejao

Aran Smith – 9/20/2007

Strengths: More mobile and athletic than his twin brother Brook Really hits the glass hard and hustles for loose balls An excellent shot blocker (led the Pac-Ten as a freshman at 2.4 per game) With his quickness and explosive leaping ability he has a real chance to be a factor as a shot blocker on the next level Foot speed is good allowing him to get to rebounds and run the floor very well Tough, hardnosed player willing to do the dirty work to help his team win Both brothers are extremely long and naturally strong and aggressive

Weaknesses: Unlike his brother who has a smooth offensive game, Robin is offensively challenged Lacks great moves in the post and struggles with his shooting touch Scores mostly on garbage baskets and cheapies around the hoop Must improve from the free throw line where he shot just 55% Feel for the game is questionable especially on the offensive end Not a great passer with vision of the floor When he receives the ball, he still appears to get nervous and turn it into a hot potato Experience and time should allow him to become a better offensive player, although its unlikely he will ever be the scorer that his brother is

Notes: The twins are said to want to leave Stanford at the same time. But based on skill development and playing the same position, it might be in Robins best interest to stay a year longer and get all of the offensive touches his brother receives in the post
