Junior guard Michael Oguine banked in a 25-foot three-pointer as time expired, lifting Chaminade past Santa Margarita, 53-52, in tonight’s Southern California Regional Division III final at Colony High.

After Santa Margarita’s Yifan Shou missed the front end of a one-and-one with 4.2 seconds left, Trevor Stanback grabbed the rebound and passed to Oguine near midcourt. Oguine took two dribbles and hoisted up the game-winner.

“There were only a couple of seconds left and I knew I couldnt get to the rim, so I took two dribbles and shot,” Oguine said. “Everything happened so fast.”

Oguine scored 18 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter, including nine in the last 1:15 when the Eagles overcame a 49-44 deficit. Max Tinsley, with seven points, was Chaminade’s second-highest scorer and Jack Williams added six for the top-seeded Eagles.

Chaminade (26-6) will meet Northern Regional champion Sir Francis Drake in the state final at 4 p.m. next Friday.

Devonte Klines scored all 15 of his points in the second half and Colin Ferrier, Joe Furstinger and Sjur Berg each added nine for third-seeded Santa Margarita (26-9), which trailed 35-33 after three quarters.
