Irmo 72, Dutch Fork 50
The Yellow Jackets of Irmo move to 11-3 on the season after their 72-50 win Saturday night over rival Dutch Fork.
Irmo was led by sophomore point guard Devontae Shuler and his 22 points. Shuler also hauled in seven rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded three steals. Senior post player Chris Boyd scored 13 points on the night, and sophomore post player RJ Gunn and senior post player Trae Magwood each scored eight points.
Girls
Irmo 42, Dutch Fork 38
The Irmo girls’ basketball squad picked up a win against Dutch Fork as well, defeating the defending AAAA state champions 42-38.
Irmo moves to 10-4 on the season, while the loss drops Dutch Fork to 8-3 on the year.
The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore forward Taiylar Demoss and her 11 points, and senior point guard Ke’asia Jackson ended her day with eight points for Irmo. Sophomore point guard Talia Roberts scored seven points for the Yellow Jackets.
Senior forward Morgan Williams led all Dutch Fork scorers with 11 points and senior forward Cherise Daniel recorded nine points. Junior guard Olivia Anderson scored eight points for Dutch Fork.
