CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina starting center Kennedy Meeks’ status is still undetermined as UNC heads to the Sweet Sixteen, Coach Roy Williams said today.
Meeks suffered what the team is calling a sprained left knee during UNC’s win against Arkansas in the NCAA round of 32. He was meeting with doctors this afternoon to determine his status after receiving an MRI.
“I don’t expect that we’ll know anything unless something really bad came out of it for the next couple of days,” Williams said.
Meeks has been in and out of UNC’s lineup this postseason, missing UNC’s first game in the ACC tournament because of a fever.
Williams said Meeks would still likely be able to play in No. 4-seeded UNC’s game against No. 1-seeded Wisconsin on Thursday, even if he didn’t practice today. If Meeks couldn’t practice Wednesday, Williams said, it would be more difficult to play him.
