West Linn guard Payton Pritchard, Oregon's two-time Class 6A boys basketball player of the year, has reportedly backed away from a verbal commitment to Oklahoma.
Scout.com broke the story earlier Monday. Pritchard's father Terry told ESPN.com that "He just wants to be 100 percent sure. He's a young kid, and we want him to 100 percent comfortable. He's been thinking about it for two or three weeks. And if he was going to do it, he should probably do it before the July period."
West Linn coach Eric Viuhkola confirmed the news to The Oregonian. A text sent to Payton and Terry Pritchard inquiring about the news was not immediately returned.
Last November, Pritchard announced that he would sign with Oklahoma, picking the Sooners over a group of finalists that included Oregon, Gonzaga, Villanova and Wisconsin.
The Scout.com story did not indicate a reason for Pritchard's change of mind. As recently as two weeks ago, Pritchard indicated on his Twitter account that he had planned to sign with Oklahoma.
More coming to this story as details become available.
