Five-star recruit Terrance Ferguson reportedly backs off Alabama commitment

One of the crown jewels of Avery Johnson's first recruiting class is now reportedly looking elsewhere.

Five-star product Terrance Ferguson's high school coach on Tuesday told Scout.com he was reopening his recruitment. Fergusuon committed to Alabama last year but did not sign in the early signing period.

His coach, Ray Forsette, told Scout he's still interested in Alabama. The death of his grandmother last month impacted his decision. Ferguson was in Tuscaloosa this past weekend on a visit for the win over Auburn.

Ferguson is the 13th nationally in Scout's recruiting rankings. Alabama's class is now ranked 15th with four-star Braxton Key headlining the group.

The anxiety over Ferguson's decision not to sign in the fall was greeted with reassurances from the Dallas product. He's been noticeably quiet on Twitter recently on the topic of his recruitment.
