Five-star Scottie Lewis has busy summer planned

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Scottie Lewis has no shortage of opportunities in his recruitment, but perhaps the most intriguing option for the five-star wing is the chance to play with Bryan Antoine, his best friend and teammate.

“That is something that me and Bryan talk about all the time. That is my brother. He is more than just a teammate to me. We are together 24-7,” Lewis said. “If you don’t catch us together, we are looking for each other. Our chemistry on and off the floor is just crazy. We complement each other so well. We are two different players. I am the athletic guy getting everyone the ball and Bryan is the more natural scorer that plays defense. That is something we definitely would like to take to the next level.

“We go everywhere together on visits so their pitch is definitely to keep us together and to keep the quote, unquote, dynamic duo together.”

There are no shortage of suitors for Lewis. Earlier this month, on the first official day of direct contact with the college coaches, Lewis' phone was full of notifications from high-major programs.

“The first person that contacted me was St. John’s,” he said. “My first phone call I got was from Darris Nichols from Florida and after that was Louisville, Villanova, Mike White with Florida again, Duke with coach (Jon) Scheyer, and UConn. It was a little overwhelming.”

Lewis spoke on the colleges that have shown interest.

Florida: “I think they are very interested in me. They definitely show a lot of love. They are always in contact with coach Brian (Klatsky) and he relays the message to me so I am always hearing about them. I definitely have a very good relationship with the entire staff. I know all of the managers, all of the coaches and the players on the team; I am close with (Chris) Chiozza and (Devin) Robinson, so it is a great relationship there.”

St. John’s: “He said that he (Chris Mullin) could be in the right position to get to the next level and that he is excited to get me into the school and basically just bring back what St. John’s used to be.”

Villanova: “They have been on winning streaks for the past few years now and they just want to bring me to continue that success and start my own legacy.”

Duke: “Me and Bryan are the guys that they are looking for and that we could do what they really want to do and to continue the Duke legacy.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Lewis will finish out his junior summer on the Under Armour circuit with the Team Rio 17-under squad.

He isn't expected to make a commitment for another year. While he would like to take a few visits this summer, his schedule may make that difficult.

“I doubt we take any visits with the way that our schedule is planned out because of Steph Curry Camp, the All-American Camp and Elite 24,” he said.

RIVALS' REACTION

Lewis is already a hot commodity on the national scale. The 6-foot-5 wing is a phenomenal athlete but an even better competitor. Teaming up with Antoine in college is a strong possibility, with Villanova, St. John’s, Florida and Duke being the likeliest options for one or both.
