BAY ST. LOUIS, Mississippi --- Moss Point used a furious second-half rally to beat St. Stanislaus 55-53 in the championship game of the Region 8-4A tournament on Friday night.
The Tigers overcame a 23-12 halftime deficit by outscoring the Rock-a-Chaws 27-13 in the third quarter. Terrance Trussell's 3-pointer with 1:33 left in the period put the Tigers up 36-34, their first lead since 2-0.
Moss Point (16-14) never led by more than four points in the fourth quarter, but held on for its 14th win in 17 games. Kentucky signee Devin Booker scored 23 points --- 21 in the second half, while Trussell added 11.
Jerrod Rigby scored a game-high 27 points for St. Stanislaus, which falls to 15-12. Mitchell Walk added 11 for the Rock-a-Chaws.
Moss Point and St. Stanislaus will both host first-round playoff games on Tuesday, the Tigers against the fourth-place team from Region 7-4A and the Rock-a-Chaws against the third-place team.
