NEW: URI’s E.C. Matthews Selected to Elite Adidas Nations Global Camp

URI rising sophomore and defending Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Year E.C. Matthews has been selected as a camp counselor at the prestigious Adidas Nations Global Basketball Camp.
The camp features 30 of the top college basketball players in America as counselors. Matthews averaged 14.3 points per game last year as a freshman for the Rams and shared the conference rookie award with DeAndre Bembry of St. Joseph's.
The camp is July 31-Aug. 4 at the Next Level Sports complex in Garden Grove, California. 8 regional teams representing Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, China, Europe, Latin America and the United States. Matthews will be providing tutelage and coaching to some of the top high school players across the globe.

The Michigan native will move into an even bigger scoring role next season with the departure of 1,000 point scorer Xavier Munford. And according to NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Matthews might even be on the radar of a handful of NBA teams.
