MSU signs 6-10 Muskegon hoops star Deyonta Davis

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State has signed 6-foot-10 Muskegon High School basketball standout Deyonta Davis to a letter of intent.

Davis averaged 15 points, 13.6 rebounds and 7.1 blocks a game as a junior, leading Muskegon to a state title. His 199 blocks last season set a state record.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo says Davis has "blossomed into something special with the best yet to come." Izzo compares Davis to Adreian Payne, the star big man who wrapped up his terrific career for the Spartans last season.
