Memphis East's James Wiseman (32) goes for a layup during a Division I Class AAA semifinals game against Bearden last season.

Memphis East senior James Wiseman, the top college basketball prospect for the Class of 2019, visited Vanderbilt this weekend.

It came a month before the basketball early signing period.

Wiseman, who played two seasons at Ensworth before moving to Memphis prior to last school year, is a 7-foot, 210-pound center who averaged 17 points and nine rebounds a year ago.

Wiseman posted an Instagram photo of him wearing a Vanderbilt jersey. He wrote, "Had a great time at Vanderbilt this weekend!! What y'all think?"

He said he has not committed.

Wiseman has whittled down his college offers to Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Vanderbilt. He took an official visit to Kentucky on Sept. 7 and Kansas on Sept. 29. He is visiting Memphis on Oct. 19 and Florida State on Oct. 25.

Memphis and Kentucky are believed to be the front-runners to land the center. Memphis is coached by Penny Hardaway, who coached Wiseman last season at Memphis East.

However if he signed with Vanderbilt, he potentially could play with current Vanderbilt freshman point guard Darius Garland, whom Wiseman played against two years while at Ensworth. Garland played at Ensworth rival Brentwood Academy.
