McDonald's All American diary: Henry Ellenson

In the days leading up to the McDonald’s All American Games in Chicago, USA TODAY High School Sports will be catching up with various players to talk about their experiences. In this entry, we talk to Rice Lake (Wis.) center Henry Ellenson, a Marquette signee. Ellenson won’t play in the game because of injury.

I won’t be able to take part in the practices or the game because of my hand so it’s been tough to watch. I broke it last week in the state semifinals and missed the state championship game. It got stuck in a jersey. It happened so fast. I heard it pop and it was broken.

I still get to do everything else that everyone gets to do and it’s been a lot of fun being a part of this event. They keep us busy. We did a photo shoot and got all our gear. We got to go to the Ronald McDonald House.

You get to see all these guys in the summer so it will be fun to see where they are with their games. There are a few guys that I haven’t seen before. It’s really a good group of guys.

My roommate is Cheick Diallo. I’ve seen him at the camp in Las Vegas, but this is the first time I’ve got to talk to him. He’s a cool guy, for sure.

There are a lot of undecided guys about their colleges, but I’m happy to get my decision out of the way. I knew I wanted to Marquette and I’m happy. I’m really excited to get down there. I don’t what anyone else’s plans are, but I always throw Marquette in there.

I’m looking forward to the dunk contest. It should be a good one, for sure.
