Cassius Stanley is already one of the most hyped and ballyhooed young prospects to hit the scene. He’s barely 14-years-old, is a freshman at Sierra Canyon High in Encino, Calif., and already stands 6-foot-4 and 165 pounds. More than that, he’s an absolute freak of an athlete.

Case in point: This compilation of dunks in a recent training session, all of which are taken from Zach LaVine’s magical NBA slam dunk contest victory. The difference is that LaVine is a highly-trained, equally highly-compensated professional athlete. Stanley is a 14-year-old member of the Class of 2018 (yes the video says he’s an eighth grader, but he’s wrong; he’s a ninth grader). And he’s already dunking like the best in the NBA. At 14.

There’s no question that Stanley has the raw athleticism that could make him one of the most sought-after prospects of the senior class in three years. Whether he has the rest of the game to live up to that raw potential remains to be seen. After all, it’s awfully early to be counting out Stanley’s future greatness when he’s only spent a single season of high school ball.

Heck, he could even burn out on the sport altogether and decide to go in another direction. Even if he does, there will always be the Zach LaVine series, like a small niche project from an artist. We just won’t know whether he’s a Monet or just another sidewalk Mona Lisa sketch artist for a few years to come.
