He’s 22/27 from the floor combined his first 2 games, and he tallied 16rebs and 6blks against Army alone last night.

He plays like he’s supercharged. One of the things that should translate very well to the pros is his ability to draw contact & get to the FT line.

I was a huge fan of both Barkley & Larry Johnson (early years). Zion looks to have both of them beat athletically for his build.

Hack a few inches off Zach Randolph’s height and give him wings

I’m surprised that he plays so poised. He’s not forcing passes, shots, over dribbling, falling for shot fakes, etc.

Been saying this for a while now. Doesnt matter what level hes playing the will always be the strongest and most athletic player on the floor. He will always have that advantage even in the pros. The bully ball will not stop. People have been assuming that when he got to college that he would get unfavorable matchups and not have enough skill to deal with the athletisism but his skill level is off the charts. Hes the real deal and should go 1st overall because there is theoretically noone that can matchup with him.

He’s a freak athletically and can use his build to score at the rim, but I’m not sure what he is as an NBA player. He’s simply not a big – Embiid, Boogie, Whiteside, Aldridge, Ayton, Davis, DeAndre, Drummond, etc are just too much for him. I take it he’ll be one of these combo wing guys but I’m not sold on the fit tbh

nothing he does besides Dunk is IMO at an NBA level

He’s not going to be a great Defender at the NBA level unless he truly commits to it

The way he’s being groomed though you’d think he’s going to be given the GreenLight in the Pros from Day 1, well he’s not a great shooter or low post threat(not with 7 foot monsters on the court guarding him)

What position does he start at if he’s drafted to The Cavs(SF?lol)

He would be smart to mimic Draymond and fashion himself into a versatile F/C that can be a dog on defense/rebounding and can help move the ball on the break, obviously he’s a far better athlete than Draymond but Green has him on everything else ATM

I’ll hold out hope because he looks insane in college, I’m just also old enough to remember other freak athletes and scorers tear up college competition too, the NBA is unforgiving when it comes to prospects like Zion

One thing he does better than any prospect I can remember recently is finish near the basket and that cant be overlooked. Dropstep, pump fake, up and under, finishing over either shoulder, hook shot. Contact means nothing to him with his powerful base and broad shoulders. Its just ignored because hes 6’6" and "todays NBA". It should not be ignored.

I dont see any difference between Zion and college Blake Griffin, except we already know Zions undersized, and Zions max vert is way freakier. Just like Blakes ball handling and passing were underrated coming out of college, and underutilized for his first few years, Zions skills are still being overlooked.

+ 1 from me. Some differences of course….. as no two prospects are exactly alike. I think Zion’s motor on defense is higher, and while both are explosive vertically, I think Zion has more lateral / side-to-side athleticism than Blake.

Blake is a bit taller & obviously less heavy when drafted, listed at about 6’8 without shoes in 2009…… but after thinking about it even more during this post I think Blake is great ceiling comp for Zion.

I imagine this is what Elgin Baylor was like (with some Gus Johnson thrown in).

Dear God Memphis Madness, Elgin Baylor was like Zion?!

Yeah I think he’ll sell tickets but have to agree with The Scare Crow Rises here. Going to the Cavs would really bring back fears of Anthony Bennett. Zion is currently the Harold Miner of Zach Randolphs.

I can see him playing the Semi Ojeleye role, but he’d need to defend and improve his 3 ball.

I really hope I’m wrong and he becomes Barkley 2.0 cos he’s fun to watch. I can’t see it right now though.

Anthony Bennett did not have the motor, athleticism, passing, post skills or IQ of Zion.

For the record, Elgin Baylor’s last year as an NBA player was during the Nixon administration

Remind me of a more athletic Justice Winslow, will have hard time to success in the nba without a consistent jump shot…

May be too early and optimistic, but his body type looks like a blend of lebron (top half) and charles barkley (bottom half) and he looks like he can get to that superstar level with similar numbers to barkley . Honestly, I didn’t expect his ball handling and iq for the game to be so high, the sky is truly the limit.

I think if a coach in the NBA looks past Zion not having prototypical size and let’s him play to his strengths, he will be a superstar in the league. The guy does so much well and should be a force at the next level with his S tier athleticism and strength with more polish on his game than people gave him credit for. Sky is the limit for Zion.

I see a lot of julius randle in him with the bully ball type of play but much more athletic and quicker. With his size I think hes gonna be a 4 in the NBA and occassionaly play the 3.
