This trade helps everyone.
It allows the Sixers to get rid of Jason Richardson’s deal & none of the deals they take back are expensive. None of the guys they get back are game changers, so they continue losing so they can get that pick that they want. Win-win.
The Lakers get young talent in Wroten (someone who I think looks like a young Penny) & Jones (potential). Those guys are still on their rookie deals so they can allow them to display their talents at a discount for a couple years before they have to decide whether or not to keep them. They get expiring deals in Allen & Sefolosha & can amnesty Perkins. Being that the veterans aren’t that talented & Jones & Wroten are super green, they continue their losing ways in hopes of getting a top 3 pick.
The Thunder get the two things they desperately need: A post presence that can knock down jumpers so he won’t be clogging the lane & a guy that can knock down the 3 ball. Gasol would help this team a lot, he would be a fantastic 3rd option & if it doesn’t work, he’s an expiring contract. Richardson can knock down the 3 & if it doesn’t work with him, you can move his expiring deal that summer.

PHXSUNDREAMPICK13Participanthttp://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine… Suns trade Emeka Okafor to Pistons for J. Smith. Throw in their 1st round pick this year (18th currently) and another player asset to make this happen. Detroit gets in on the 2014 draft and builds their front line even more. Phoenix need to take the chance on this one to prove that they are a "stars destination" Also, they wont miss the pick much because of 3 other potential picks.

BajeebzParticipantBefore you get trigger happy with the negs, please remember this is a fake trade, and also that I’m a crazy Minnesota fan. For what it’s worth, I’ve been drinking…
Alright, let’s see here..
Philadelphia receives: Kevin Love (3yr at 14.6mil/yr) and AJ Price (1yr at 800k)
Minnesota receives: Thaddeus Young (3yr at 8.85mil/yr) and Evan Turner (1yr at 6.67mil) PLUS 2014 1st Rd pick.
What’s good–Philly gets a star player in KLove to build around with MCW and Noel. Philly still has their 1st from NOLA. Minnesota gets a high pick, a good PF in Young, and an expiring contract in Turner. In theory it also weakens the team to increase the odds of them keeping their 1st from PHX.
Salaries match, and Trade Machine approved it. Now I subject myself to the potential wrath or praise of my peers and the fake trade gods.

machu46ParticipantThe only issue with this is that Philly doesn’t own their own 1st round pick. Boston does. Philly gets to keep it if they miss the playoffs, so I’m not really sure how that would work in terms of the trade. Maybe after the season is over they could make this trade assuming they miss the playoffs?

machu46ParticipantAgain, keeping in mind that this is a fake trade, but after the Bynum-Gasol swap fell through, I tried to think of who else LA could target with Gasol and came up with this:
Charlotte Receives:
Pau Gasol
Xavier Henry
Lakers Receive:
Greg Monroe
Ben Gordon
Detroit Receives:
Gerald Henderson
Robert Sacre
Lakers 2016 1st round pick (if they can trade it, not positive how the consecutive years trades really work)
Why?
Charlotte is often mentioned as a team that has interest in Pau Gasol, and I believe they intend to make a playoff push to get some positive momentum going into next year when they bring back the Buzz. Swapping Gerald Henderson and Ben Gordon for Pau Gasol and Xavier Henry seems to be a pretty big upgrade IMO, and Gasol is an expiring contract and Henry is extremely cheap, so they still have flexibility for the future.
Lakers beat writers have said that LA wants to accomplish a few things over the next few years: (1) remain a competitive team so that Kobe can go out playing for a possible playoff team, (2) don’t acquire long-term contracts, and (3) add pieces that they can build around for the future. Greg Monroe helps to accomplish at least two of the three. He’s a young guy that they can be a piece for them in the future, and he’s a restricted free agent so the Lakers can match any contract offer he receives and keep him around, and he’ll help to make them a respectable team again.
Detroit is admittedly the weaker point of the trade. My thinking is that they probably accept the fact that the Drummond, Smith, and Monroe trio just doesn’t work. They know Monroe will get a good offer from some other team in the off-season, and they don’t intend to match. At the same time, if they miss the playoffs, it will be a disappointing season for them. So they move Monroe so that they can slide Josh Smith in to the PF spot where he really belongs. At the same time, they add Gerald Henderson, who can give them some help on the perimeter, and Robert Sacre, who can step in and be the backup center that they don’t currently have (I believe their backup C at the moment is Josh Harrelson?). And I think they’d have to receive a 1st round pick or multiple 2nd round picks as well. Not sure if the Lakers can offer their 2016 pick, but if they can, I think that would make this a pretty even trade for all three sides.

King CaluchaParticipantI don’t know why the Lakers woud do this. Gasol-Kobe is a good combo and I think they’d be OK having Gasol + Kobe + Cheap solid rookie next season.

it’s not my best work for sure, but I just really want perry jones and John Henson on the Sixers. Lol.
In this trade the bucks would get the Sixers second 1st rd pick.
