Fuenlabrada, 16 Aug. 2011 .- The Fuenlabrada basketball recruiting closed Saer Sene, Senegal pivot 25 years old and 211 centimeters tall. The new player has signed a contract fuenlabreño that binds both parties until June 2013.

"We hope to provide a lot of physical ability, rebounding and intimidation on defense on offense will also add to the team because he runs the field well despite being so big, has good hands and is a good finisher," he pointed Ferran Lopez sporting director Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, on the new club’s bid for his inside game.

Lopez added that "Sene has 25 years so we still have a good room for improvement, the work of our technicians will help in their progression and draw ever more from its potential. He is a player with experience in Europe who wants to take a major step forward in a competition as demanding as Endesa League. "

The new player comes from Gravelines Baloncesto Fuenlabrada Dunkerque France where last season became champion of Cup competition in which he was a great player with average rating of 18.3. The Ligue has excelled in the last two seasons in which he averaged 11.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 17 measurement by defending the colors of Hyeres-Toulon (09/10) and reviewed and Gravelines (10/11).

Sene came to France from the United States, where he was elected in the No. 10 pick in the NBA in 2006 by the Seattle Supersonics. During his three seasons in the United States moved from the D-League and the NBA where he played with the Seattle Supersonics, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New York Knicks.

Also, the player Sene is replacing still owes the club $1.4 million because quitting on a team does not allow him to skip out on the buyout terms of the deal.

They replace Bismack Biyombo with the old Bismack Biyombo. Well, they probably both members of the AARP, but I love it!

Does anyone remember Sene’s suit during the 2006 draft? I think he first bought it for his HS grad in 1976.

That suit looks like something from a Starsky and Hutch era show I must admit!

An update on Bobcats rookie Biyombo

Some of you have been asking about Charlotte Bobcats rookie Bismack Biyombo and his contract complications in Spain.

I just had a brief conversation with Biyombo’s USA-based agent, Joel Bell. He said there’s a civil trial scheduled for Dec. 19 in Spain. Biyombo is suing Fuenlabrada, the team Biyombo played for last season, for breach of contract.

If Biyombo won that suit, he’d lkely be free of that contract and able to sign with the Bobcats. This has now become a more pressing issue, with the lockout likely to end in time for training camps and free-agency to start Dec. 9.

You might recall my story over the summer, quoting a FIBA official as saying that organization — basketball’s international governing body — had denied the NBA a clearance letter to sign Biyombo. That was at the request of the Spanish basketball federation, looking to enforce Fuenlabrada’s contract with Biyombo. Clearly, the team wants a sizeable transfer fee to give up its rights to Biyombo.

The Bobcats chose Biyombo, a rebounder/shotblocker, seventh overall in June. Due to the lockout, the Bobcats have had no contact with him since July. In the meantime, Biyombo has been training in Tampa, Fla.
