GlenTaylorSucksParticipantWolves sign Kevin Martin for 4 years, 28 million!!!! I can’t believe Flip could restrain himself from going hard after Mayo and got the better fit instead. In getting Bud back and signing Martin, the Wolves upgraded their wing situation like crazy today. I hope they can still get a Kyle Korver/Brandon Rush/Dorell Wright as well

aztwulfParticipantGet ready for some 117-114 games.
A defensive minded wing would be nice, but I think they are right up against the cap, and done in FA (other than resigning Pek after July 10). I think there is some trade value in both JJ Barea and Luke Ridnour, and one of the two will be gone before the season starts. Maybe that brings a defender.

quinned35Participantwith the exception of rubio, this roster has absolutely no wing D

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantBud’s a pretty good defender, Shved will get better. I’m hoping they can get either a 3 and D guy to complement Martin, or another sniper to space the floor for Love/Pek.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantPretty much any 2 guard is an instant upgrade over Ridnour as a starter, let’s be real.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThat means Kirilenko is gone since they spent his money… and he was their defense often times guarding as many as 3 players at a time. He was a blast to watch play and I wish him luck and hope he ends up with a nice contract with a top team.

Darius22ParticipantSo wait the T-Wolves actually have a black player on their team
0- Posted on: Tue, 07/02/2013 - 2:50pm #811634
GottaBeTheShoesParticipantAnd at that, he’s only half-black..

LipstickParticipantClippers trading for a white guy is far more surprising and less beaten into the ground. Just my opinion though.

220ParticipantGood news for the Timberwolves. Kevin Martin seems like a good fit and he’s a solid scorer.
I’m also glad for the Thunder because this forces Scott Brooks to play Jeremy Lamb.

baggin13ParticipantAre there any teams that are looking for a Backup PG that have a Defensive wing they would trade for either Ridnour or JJ?
0- Posted on: Tue, 07/02/2013 - 7:04pm #811816
benny15ParticipantDepending on what happens with jarret jack, if he’s healthy, Brandon rush would be a good 3 and D guy. He’s also more fitting into a ball movement system like what adelman runs. But if you’re looking for cheap free agent options, there’s dorell wright and another former adelman player, Francisco Garcia.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantTo be fair defensive wings aren’t the most expensive free agents out there. Ronnie or Corey Brewer are probably still within the T-Wolves price range.

JNixonParticipantThey needed shooters, so its a good move on that front, but who is going to play defense? Cause Minnesota doesnt defend well and martin doesnt defend well either

XYRYXParticipant4 years and 28 million is a very fair deal for Martins services. I kind of shocked the Thunder couldn’t convince him to stay with a similar deal. On the other hand Brooks really needs to play Lamb now which I like a lot. Sefolosha will still start and Lamb will play like 20 to 25 mins a game now. I never thought Martin was really a good fit for OKC but for 7 million a year the should have kept him imo.
