Wolves insider Jerry Zgoda has tweeted and multiple others have reported that the Wolves intend to keep Anthony Bennett in the upcoming Love trade. However, that doesn’t mean they wont get Young, too.

Hoopshype.com picked up Ryan Wolstat’s tweet: “Wolves beat guys have been all over this, but FWIW, have heard from 2 sources Anthony Bennett staying in Minny, Thad Young still going there”

I’d have to give the Wolves’ front office huge props if they actually pull Young, Bennett, and Wiggins while dumping the likes of Barea, Shved, and /or Mbah a Moute. Happy to hear they’re looking to hold onto Muhammad as well.

Also, check out my thoughts on the last days of KLove as a timberwolf here: http://dunkingwithwolves.com/2014/08/21/kevin-love-trade-end-nigh/

What the heck does Philly get then? If this is true they should get a first or Lavine.

PHIL will be getting the first round pick MN gets from CLEV in the trade. Plus at least two salary dumps from MN.
I’m not sure they’re going to have room for Shabazz after this trade. At SF they’ll have Brewer, Budinger, and Bennett. I went to CLEV site and they list Bennett at SF, I think he might be more a PF. But even with that you also have Robinson that would play SF also.
It’s going to be some interesting times coming in MN.

For what it’s worth, Darren Wolfson tweeted that the Sixers “will have to take Shved/Moute/Miami pick if he wants to move Thad.”

I just don’t know if it’s worth it. I’d say for sure Sixers should get a first rounder, but I figured it would be Minny’s. Maybe the sixers can’t get more than that, maybe they can, but having Young’s presence on a young team holds value as well if the trade offers aren’t great.

The 2015 first rounder could be owed to PHX (protections apply). I think the earliest Minny would be able to convey a first to Philly is the 2017 first rounder. I anticipate that, if a first goes to Philly, it will be whatever pick Minny gets from Cleveland in the Love trade. A team cannot trade its own first round pick two years in a row.

I see. Pretty big let down, going from Bennett to a mid first. Maybe Miami will suck somehow…

As a Sixers fan I don’t see why we would take only the Miami pick for Thad and then also take the salary dumps.

Maybe at the trade deadline we would accept that deal if nothing else comes along, but there is no reason to take that deal now.

You take the deal because you are getting a likely mid first round pick for Thad Young.  Who you have been trying to trade for over a year.  If you think they can do better for Thad freaking Young you are greatly over valuing him.  In fact if I was Minny there is no way I would trade that Miami pick for him.  Especially when they are obviously hitting the reset button.

The value of a first round pick depends on the strength of the draft and where it ultimately falls. To me, a mid first round pick means between picks 10 and 20. If the pick ends up as number 15 then I am on board with it, but if it ends up being number 25 then I wouldn’t be.

As I said before, I would take this deal at the trade deadline if it was all that we could get, but I don’t see what the point of doing it now would be. PLUS we are supposedly eating dead weight contracts which, in and of themselves, require compensation to take on.

I have no interest in any players rumored to be involved other than Bennett, and perhaps GRIII.

Luc is from Camaroon like Embiid, the future of the franchise who is a mentor to him and they are very close. I’m fairly certain having him in that capacity as well as a giood locker room guy who plays D played a big part in it.

Shved has talent, needs confidencem and will be given ample time to show whether he can ball.  Getting a pick probably in the 20 range isn’t terrible.

This is in exchange for a guy who has been wearing a sour puss for two years and has stated he won’t resign and doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild.  Given everyone knows that I’m happy with the deal.

Luc R Mbah a Moute makes sense as he isn’t needed in Minnesota, is on his last year, and is from the same country as Embiid, which probably helps ease Embiid’s transition.

I would assume that either Shved or JJ is the other part. I would hope it could be both, but that might be to much to ask. Alexi might just need a change of scenery, and does have some potential. If I had to keep one or the other I would rather keep Alexi.

If only two contracts go out, say JJ and Luc, and Thad comes in, that still leaves GR3 on the outside looking in. Bigs: Thad, Bennett, Pek, Gorgui, Ronny PGs: Rubio, Williams, Shved SGs: Martin, Lavine SFs: Budinger, Brewer, Shabazz, Hummel, Wiggins.

With 15 guaranteed contracts that leaves no room for GR3 unless someone else (like Alexi, Bud, Shabazz, or Brewer) goes out in one of the two trades.

Flip is the man if the Wolves get a haul of Wiggins, Thad, Bennett, plus cap exception.  Minnesota fans should be thrilled if they only send Shved, Moute, and the CLE 1st via MIA to PHI.

Biggest trade in Minnesota since the Cowboys fleeced the Vikings.  #HerschelWalker

But, but, the Wolves have no leverage…Love is leaving anyways, why don’t they just take a bunch of spare junk for the best PF in the game?

Usually when a player like Love with an expiring contract demands a trade (he basically did), a team can’t get much for him because everyone knows he’s on the trade block. Your bargaining power goes down when everyone knows your hand. Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Thad Young is an excellent return, especially in these circumstances. Kudos to Minnesota.

One word why CLEV is giving this much up. Chicago. If they don’t give MN Wiggins, Flip turns to Chicago to see what he can get there. Which would make them the favorite to win the East.
But of course we all know by now that Flip doesn’t have any bargaining power. What a bunch of BS that was.

Will Love sign the 5 year deal with the question marks around roses knees? Also Gibson is an important part of Chicago’s chemistry…its not a sure fire Chicago improves to top of the heap with their version of the proposed trade.

Other trades will materialize for Cleveland as the year progresses.

Any time you are trading one of the top 5 players in the league you have leverage.  Nba basketball is a star driven league and teams will go to great lengths to aquire thr top players.
