Sometimes it seems like I’m the only guy left on here who believes in Will Barton as a possible lottery pick in the future, but did anyone catch him against Belmont?

He had 23 points on 7-12 shooting and was 7-8 within the three point line. He also drew fouls seemingly at will, getting to the line 14 times. He started off slow but got hot late in the game when Memphis needed to put Belmont away. He got three assists off nice passes and had five rebounds. Yes, it’s only one game, but Belmont are a quality opponent and Barton has shown a more driving oriented mindset, despite his 4 three point attempts, which were usually open shots.

He’s still stick thin, but he plays with great energy and is a lot stronger than he looks. He’s made great strides already from last season and should eclipse his 12 or so ppg freshman numbers.

For those of you who saw the game, what do think of Barton and where do you think he can go? I honestly believe he’s a lock to be a lottery pick if he sticks around for his junior season and a first rounder if he leaves this season.

Some scouts say his lack of strength and thin body wont hold up in the nba..But that never stopped guys like Reggie Miller or Rip Hamilton…

Barton reminds me of Latrell Sprewell… Scouts wouldnt that high on Sprewell and some considered him a 2nd round pick, but he turned out to be 1 of the league top guards…

He can makes plays for himself and his teammates..But he has to continue to improve his shot selection and not  forces things all the time..I think he shot only 42%..That must get better..

But he’s good in the halfcourt set and and finishes well at the rim..I like him as a mid to late 1st round pick..But alot of scouts arent that high on him..But like i said earlier, they werent high on Sprewell either…

Barton is a little selfish and he needs polish, but he is aggressive and he looks to score the ball. He’s got good athleticism and some quickness, but he’s rough around the edges on both ends and he shows very improvable decision-making skills. He doesn’t pick his spots that well, and he’s not as good a shooter as he thinks he is. He’s also a very shaky defender. He has talented, but he is a little bit of a project from an NBA prospect standpoint

There are alot of sgs rated ahead of him..I think the team that drafts Barnes will move him to the shooting guard spot..Barnes,Jeremy Lamb ,Middleton, Bradley Beal and Alek Young are all better then Barton..and even his teammate Adonis Thomas is rated ahead of him.But i like his ability to score points…..And in a deep draft i see him going in the 2nd round…..

And that’s just the area I hope to see hiim fall. LAL has gotten themselves some nice steals in the early to mid second round in the past 4-5 years.
