J-rueMykelParticipantSay you are granted an NBA Franchise and you get your choice of starting to build your team with the following candidates:
John Wall
Andrew Wiggins
Brandon Ingram
Blake Griffin
Andre Drummond
Who do you want and why?

TRC1991ParticipantAndrew Wiggins – has the highest ceiling of the bunch

The GoatParticipantWall. He can really do everything. Great scorer and passer, elite defender for a PG, can hit from three, drive and get up. Wiz haven’t taken advantage of having him.

treytalkssports.comParticipantI don’t really like Wall, but in the modern NBA, he could definitely lead a team to a champsion with the right core. His defense is spectacular. His offense is underrated. He is the only player in the NBA who can say they are close to Westbrook athletically.

BiggysmallsParticipantWiggins
21 points per game in age 20 season without a great 3-point shot. He gets that 3-point shot even to the point where it is decent (35% on moderate volume) and he could be a machine.
Defense comes and goes but he’s shown he’s more than capable of checking top-notch scorers.
Ceiling is Paul George…think he ends up somewhere between George (a step below) and DeRozan (a step above) which would put him somehwere in the 8-12 range of NBA players.
Wall and Griffin are also solid options here but it seems like Griffin has weird baggage and Wall is fine but I don’t think he’s progressed much in recent years. He’s really good, but he seems to have peaked. Maybe I’m way off on that because I don’t catch much Wizards but it seems like he’s leveled off here.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantHe’d be the youngest in the group, and he probally comes in with the best outside shot out of all of theses guys
Not to mention he has 2 way potential and can play inside/out with any Big Man I find later
So against popular opinion I’d take Ingram to start my franchise

binetParticipantIf not for the recent injury and the fact he may already have had his best days, I would easily have said Blake Griffin. The guy is the reason CP3 came to the clippers and he actually made the Clippers contenders (with arguably their loss to the blazers due to his and Paul’s injuries).
Right now though, my answer is that I would get Andrew Wiggins, just so that I can get LeBron through free agency and then trade him for K-LOve

nill650ParticipantWall the bpa today but his career is helf over, + in 2 yrs Wiggins passes him as the best player on this list.
the other 3 are not options imo /Drummond Griffin and an unknown are not players I would build around. Drummond despite his ability and athletic dominance is still a low IQ player who can’t finish games…Griffin is overated despite improving his shooting and Ingram is an unknown commodity at this stage.

J-rueMykelParticipantHe’s the rarest player type in my opinion, extremely large human with elite athleticism and still very raw offensively. He came into the league underrated and has flourished and taken major steps each year. I’m aware they are all in different stages of they’re career, that’s why I chose these players. I think they are all each unique and bring something very different to the table. I consider these all to be building block guys, with Griffin and Wall obviously the most polished, and Wiggins and Drummond already having proven to be legit NBA stars, and Ingram with his obvious potential. With they way players are being developed I think Drummond’s skill set is the rarest of the bunch and I believe he’s the closest thing to Shaq that we will see in a long time and that’s why I lean towards him. Here’s my ranking and reasoning why:
Drummond: for the reason stated above
Wiggins: undeniably 2 way potential as a 20 year old
Wall: developed skill set, youth, and elite athleticism
Griffin: injuries probably cost him competetion for top spot in my opinion but his skill and athleticism are undeniable
Ingram: clearly the 5th option for me, but his potential is real but unproven.

SubZeroParticipantWall is my favorite player in the league, but I’ll take Wiggins. Has the most potential out of all of them, already a 20+ scorer and he’s only 21. He needs to up his motor because he should be averaging more rebounds, steals, and blocks just from athleticism alone, but I think he’s gonna be a franchise cornerstone of Minnesota and wouldn’t be surprised to see him doing big things in the playoffs soon.

Evan_MilbergParticipantAs a Wizards fan, I’d like to say I’d take Wall first, but the more I watch him the less convinced I am that he can make a team an elite contender, much less a champion. He is immensely talented, but still plays erratically. He still makes way too many bad decisions and has a hard time taking games over late in games.
Griffin is this generation’s Domonique. Fun to watch, but as long as he’s your centerpiece, you’re not going to win a championship. He lacks a killer instinct and sometimes I question if he’s already peaked.
Ingram is unproven, so I think it’s unfair to include him in this thread.
Drummond has a unique skill set and is one of the game’s few truly dominant big men, and is only getting better. However, with the evolution of the game as it is, I’m not sure you need to BUILD your team around a dominant center.
I think by process of elimination I’d have to go with Wiggins. He has incredible two-way potential, is a dynamic scorer and is still only 21. If he can become a more prolific rebounder, he could an MVP contender.

SubZeroParticipantI think Wall showed that he’s a winner 2 seasons ago when he got hurt in the playoffs. If he was healthy, they would’ve easily beaten the Hawks based on the way they played with him on the court, much less with a bum hand. If you replaced Westbrook with Wall, I’d still pick the Thunder to make the Finals next year because while Westbrook is definitely a better scorer and his intensity is unmatched, Wall’s lockdown defense and ability to get everyone involved evens it out to me. So I do think you can win a championship with him, but with the right guys around him…like Kyrie

machu46ParticipantIf I had the medical reports and was convinced that it wouldn’t be an issue moving forwards, I’d take Blake Griffin. I simply think he’s better than everyone else on the list/better than what they will become.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about the health. In that case, I probably take Wiggins and just hope he reaches his ceiling, but I’m not particularly confident that he will. Going with a guy at Wiggins’ age would at least buy me some time though.
