Onuaku has performed very well at the combine, is probably going to enter the draft this year, is projected in the first or second round by most sites yet isn’t listed in this years or NEXT years draft.

He’s having heart surgery today. Apparently it’s a minor procedure, and he’ll be able to resume workouts after a short recovery window, but despite his nice athletic and 5 and 5 showings, heart issues aren’t exactly draft boosters.

Just curious.   If it’s a minor procedure, the NBA will have no problems with his health.

…you have 10-15 guys with injury concerns being drafted in the next two years yet Onuaku gets left out for some reason.

I guess it was something they caught at the combine. From what I read it’s not a huge procedure, and he should be able to bounce back after a week of rest. Still, a heart issue is kind of a big deal when looking to draft a player.

He’s not a lock. The 2nd round is extremely difficult to predict, so while there is a solid chance that he’ll get drafted this June, I don’t think it’s blasphemous that he’s not on a mock draft.

I would’ve loved to see Nanu come back for another year to further develop his offensive ability, but I think he will be a good rotational big man for many years in the NBA. Very athletic and a great defender, that’s what a lot of teams look for in a big. I wish him the best.

Some have posted that he’s limited offensively and has a lot to work on but that’s BS.  He really, really improved offensively and I believe has the talent to get much better than that.  Thankfully for Nanu, the NBA has 6 fouls instead of 5.
