SubZeroParticipantNow that Blatt finally got fired (thought it’s been pretty obvious for a while now that it was gonna happen eventually), what team do you think might take a flyer on him? I think he’s a good coach that like someone said on another thread, was neutered by Lebron and the management, and that maybe the Wolves should take a look at him for next season. What team do you think could use him?

omphalosParticipantI think it begins and ends with the Wolves – they need a clear system to make the most of their young players.

holefillers1ParticipantHe should join the Sixers staff. Saric is coming over next year. Maybe Simmons.

SlickBouncePassParticipanthe is not an effective communicator with these players.
maybe he can be a scheme guy….but I just hate his face and rally cries. He should go to the Lakers.

KIP BallerParticipantI think a team that is young and developing would be a good fit. Great call on Wolves.

publius2481ParticipantThe TWolves are the obvious choice. The Lakers would be a good place too. I think he could really help Russell’s development.

ExumInfernoParticipantHe is ruined for the NBA. Either a high-profile EuroLeague team, or coaching an international team for the Olympics.

Hype MachineBlatt didnt disgrace himself…other franchises will see that he got railroaded by Lebron.
He will get another ride on the coaching merry-go-round.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree with what was written above… He should go be an assistant with GSW next season. There’s a high chance Walton gets a head coaching position.
There’s still a lot he can learn about the NBA and adjustments he can make.

BiggysmallsParticipantBest move for Blatt’s career might be to take a year or two as a top-assistant in Golden State, otherwise I want the Wolves to go get him.
He wants to run a free-flowing, Spurs/Hawks/Warriors kind of system. That style will never work for LeBron though, so there’s a lot more to Blatt than he showed.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantI don’t see why everyone thinks Minnesota would be the right place for him. He hasn’t shown any track record for player development (granted Cleveland didn’t have many young rotation guys) or get through to star caliber players. He wants to run a 4-out-1-in system that is predicated on ball movement and plenty of screening on and off-ball. Minnesota doesn’t have personnel to play that style and as young as their core is they need a great communicator (an area Blatt struggles) I think he should go be an assistant somewhere with a good culture so he can learn how to better deal with NBA players and other nuances of the game that differ from Europe. GS was mentioned above and that would be good fit as they’re bound to lose Walton this summer.

BiggysmallsParticipantWait, you asked and answered your first question in the same sentance. Who was he going to develop in Cleveland?
Minnesota doesn’t have the personel to run anything constructive offensively. Thats why they are horrible. They need better players. But Sam Mitchell’s offensive philosophy is archaic and is probably hindering offensive development of the youngsters.
I think if Blatt were smart, he’d either go for the MN job – young talent with some experience, high draft pick – or get an assistant job and learn some things. The NBA retreads coaches like no other league, so he’ll certainly get another shot.
