He is the #2 player in the class of 2012 and said he is gonna make his decision this month. He canceled his Kentucky and Maryland visits so you have to think it’s down to Duke, UNC, and Michigan. Michigan is the supposed front-runner, but he talks a lot about wanting to play in a fast-break offense which the Wolverines does not play. His parents want Duke, his AAU coach wants Michigan.

Here is his blog on ESPN.

It seems like it is almost as good as a done deal for Michigan. It seems like his AAU coach played a bigger part in his recruitment then most thought.

I really wanted him to go to Duke, because all we have for a center is Marshall Plumlee next year….yeah like  that’s going to scare anyone…

Also at first I really thought he was going to UNC, because he just seemed like he’d be perfect fit for their system but somehow the underdog Michigan seems to be leading…

Even since his last blog was posted there have been 3 different scouts who’ve said they heard Michigan has the edge.

They’re going against some serious heavyweights, but where Michigan can sell him is with location, the commitment of his AAU teammate Glenn Robinson,  and the fact that they can probably say rather than being the next big recruit in line, he could be the one who starts something special at their school.

Mitch McGary and maybe Tim Hardaway if he stays another round would be a mean 1-2 combo

Does anyone know why he’s not considering Indiana? They’re arguably the #1 program on the rise with Tom Crean’s first recruiting class coming in its own. McGary and Cody Zeller could have been the most dominant low post combo in the country in 2012-13.

He’s going to Michigan. He can cancelled all his visits and said he wants to make a desicion soon. Dave Telep of ESPN (reliable source) that that Michigan is his favorite right now.

As a Maryland fan, I was hoping he would come here, but oh well. On to the next one.

I just hope he doesn’t go to Duke.

Don’t they have Hana Perea(sp?) comming in. Or is he a different class. If he goes to U of M then he can be a stud from the get go. If he goes to UNC then it realy depends on how many of their frontcourt players bolt for the league cuz as good as he is there is talent there that he could sit behind.

You’re right Perea and McGary are both 2012.

Indiana was recruiting McGary way before he blew up nationally. They were among his first offers. This past season when he went to Brewster and his grades improved they wanted him to reclassify back to to 2011, his original class, but he didn’t want to.

Indiana has 5 commits for the 2012 class, and is after Gary Harris as the 6th. When it was established that McGary would remain in 2012, I think they had to make a decision on which guy they wanted more. They will already have to find away to scramble in terms of scholarships, so I think it came down to a numbers game. Sometimes you just can’t go after everyone.
