Personally I’d stay clear of any big man 7’foot plus with feet issues but it seemed to work out with Embiid after a bunch of years on the shelf so I can see a team swing for the fences early in the draft for him. The Hawks seems like a very likely candidate to pick him if they miss out on the big three of this draft.

Lets say it stays the same and they get the 5th and 8th picks. Assuming the Dallas pick stays in the hands of Atlanta I dont see them passing on him with their first pick because at 4-10 you have a bunch of guys like Hachimora, Reddish, Okpala, Culver, Johnson, Alexander-Walker, and Hunter that havent quite seperated themselves talent wise that sorta eat the same minutes as wings and forwards. At 8 they can just wait to see who drops to them out of that group but Bol Bol brings a rare and unique skillset.

As far as Garland goes really think this guy would be the clearcut 4th pick if he had been healthy, maybe even preferred over Morant who knows. The guys game reminded me too much of Kyrie Irving to forget and not have him top 10 in my mock. As long as his health is good worst case scenerio I see him as a Reggie Jackson type skill wise, but he has a different level feel for the game. Might not be too many teams in the top 10 that need a PG but if we are talking best player available who outside of the big three and maybe Hachimora is with him?

I don’t see Garland lasting past #6 if the Bulls are out of the Top 4.  I think they draft Garland if they don’t have a chance at

    Zion Williamson

    RJ Barrett

    Ja Morant

    Cam Reddish

If they are at 5 and the draft sees those 4 off the board, I’m pretty sure they go with Garland.  I think Bol Bol is going to a team, like you said, with multiple 1st rounders (so they can let him heal properly) but I see him as the 2nd pick a team takes, not the 1st.  I imagine, in the scenario you put up there in your original post, that he would be the Hawks pick at #8.  They will go will a wing player at #5 (if Reddish is still there, he’s going to Atlanta).

But what are the odds Reddish ends up being the best layer out of the ones I listed especially with Collins and Young already established? I’d say you got better odds that Bol Bol gets healthy and becomes a dynamic unicorn type guy.

could see memphis taking garland and moving conley.  chicago makes the most sense though.

i think hawks take best available wing at 4.  at 8, i could see them easily swinging for the fences on doumboya or bol.  bol to NO and MIA makes a lot sense but no way he goes past boston at 14 (if boston still has all those picks).  that would be like when porter fell to last pick in lotto this year.

Bol Bol has proven himself though talent wise. Porter didnt really play much.

the analogy is more that at 14, bol would be a steal based on potential alone like porter was for the nuggets.

i think talent wise; it is arguable.  porter was an absolute beast before injury and just as hard as it is to find 7-2 C that can shoot; same can be said for 6-11 wings.

Michael Porter went from “I feel better than ever… I feel pain free and I feel better than I’ve felt in a long time” to not being healthy enough to go through a full month’s worth of pre-draft workouts to saying he expects to play in the summer league to not playing in the summer league to having lumbar surgery but said he would be ready for the start of the season to sitting out this season.

None of this has hurt Denver, and they were in position to swing away whether it works out or not. It is, however, not a good argument for teams drafting injured players.

I’m not really understanding how people are placing Garland ahead of Coby White.

Coby has had an excellent season for UNC, and continues to have big performances. Garland might run a team better, but White’s superior athletic ability, length, and height put him ahead of Garland for me.

I’ve said White is the 2nd best PG in this draft. Granted, we didn’t get to see a ton of Garland this year, but I wouldn’t put him above White at this point. Is Garland that Kyrie level of special? I’m not sure.

Thats a good point I’ve defenitely been sleeping on White. That boy can shoot he’s got every release you can think of and probably the best pullup in the draft. Might consider having him at 6 and Garland at 9 instead of how I currently have it.

Darius Garland is just what Orlando needs.

Looks like Bol Bol right now is a mid 1st rounder right outside of the lottery and Garland is a late lottery to mid 1st rounder.

I agree that Atlanta will certainly take a look at Bol Bol if the Dallas pick does come over. At 8 he may be a reach but there is less pressure as they will have their own pick too ahead of that. I don’t see Bol Bol sliding past wherever Boston get their first pick as Ainge would take him if he worked out well I reckon.

NOP could take a good look at him to depending on what happens with The Brow.

If Bol Bol does slip out of the lottery then the Spurs are weighting and would likely snap him up.

Just so everyone understands Bol Bol would probably be in the mix for 1st overall right now if he stayed healthy. He averaged 21 points 10 rebounds and 3 blocks in his 9 games. He shot 52% from 3pt. 7’3 19 years old.

We do this on here every year: a guy in the top 4 ranking gets injured, he drops to 20th on this website, and then we’re all surprised when he’s making waves in the pre-draft, and eventually gets picked 4th.

Bol is a top 5 pick for sure. Zero percent chance he drop of the top 8. Zero. I’d take him 3rd and pray he can handle centers within 4 years.

The chances that Bol Bol drops out of the top 8 are definitely higher than zero.

People didn’t think there was a chance Porter would end up being taken where he did. Teams will have a look at Bol’s medical report, and it is well within the realm of possibilities that doctors don’t like what they see.

Garland is such a good fit for the Bulls it ain’t even funny. I hope GarPax can see past the Morant production and do their homework on Garland. His skill level is off the charts and is ideal for today’s game. Combine that with fit on this roster its a no-brainer imo.

I don’t really care for where Bol might go since I don’t think much of him as a prospect. He might be able to stretch 5, but if teams play him honest, his shot isn’t exactly un-contestable, like say a KP or Dirk. I think he’ll have issues attacking closeouts. With his high hips, slim build and weak lower half i dont think he’ll be able to hold position/balance at all.  Basically, I think his offense won’t be as multidimensional as people think.

I don’t think people are realizing if he never got injured he would for sure be top 5 , maybe even the first pick .He was balling averaged over 20 and was shooting over %50 from 3. And not to mention he’s 19 and 7’2 . He’ll be a steal out of the top 5.
