festar35ParticipantWho do you like out of these rookie shooting guards?
Best player right now?
Best player in 5 years?
First to be an All-Star?
Have the best career?
Who do they remind you of?
Beal = Mitch “The Rock” Richmond
Waiters = D-Wade
Ross = J-Rich0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/17/2013 - 11:13pm #755689
TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantRight now…probably Beal, more even keel and predictable but its 1a1b with Waiters
5 years….. maybe Ross, best shot and most athletic, when he puts it together its going to be Paul George-ish.
First All Star….Waiters, almost guaranteed at least one, I’m thinking maybe even third season, could be on next years ballot
Career… Probably Beal,he seems more consistentWaiters has the skill to be an impact player, you never know whether Ross is going to be a guy everybody loves off potential and gets through his whole rookie deal then receives a bigger deal before he shows it much like Derrick Favors is going to end up doing. An almost anybody, including myself would extend him anyway because it just seems like the right thing to do. Beal is the classic “best guy to never make an All Star game” trivia answer in 20 years.
All the comparisons are overshoots but I’m conservative with comparisons, that’s just me. I mean Mitch Richmond didn’t have a season were he averaged less than 21.9 in his first ten seasons and even then it dropped to 19, 17 and 16 before his last season. Beal has a shot of that less than Waiters has a shot at being D Wade who spent at least 5 years at one point, as one of the top 5 players in the whole League. Waiters ain’t doing that and Ross won’t have the career Richardson did either, at least I don’t think so.

franfranParticipantI like Beal, but I think the best player currently is Waiters.
In five years I have no doubt, will Beal.
The first All-Star game will do just possibly Waiters, Cleveland will have a before better record than Washington
The best race, I think will Beal.Beal never will Gordon, Beal in the best moment put 23 pppg 6,5 rpg 3,8 apg 1,5 spg 1 bpg
Waiters never reached the level of Wade, will be a step above Stuckey. In the best moment, Waiters put 19,7 ppg 4,5 rpg 5 apg 2,1 spg 0,6 bpg
Ross did not see him being a great scorer in this league, rarely pulls free throws, most of his shots are 3 points, your level should come very close to JR SMITH. In the best moment, Ross put 16,5 ppg 5,6 rpg 2,4 apg 1,8 spg 1,1 bpg

r377ParticipantI had in order coming out of college
Beal
Lamb
Waiters
RossEven though I haven’t seen Lamb play I will stick with that order for 5 years and career.
I think Beal will be the first and only all-star from these four. I think Lamb will get close…

Bird_YearsParticipantBut one thing I’ll say about Waiters is he has the potential to be the best pick of all those guys.
Also, he’s been a lot more efficient this year than people expected. He’s shooting 41% on the season (many people projected him below 40%) and he’s been shooting 45% since he got his starting job back on January 22. Since then Cleveland has quietly played at a 0.500 level (11-11) with wins over OKC, Boston, Milwaukee and Chicago.

As much as I love Ross’s athleticism, I dont know if he’ll ever be more than a Nick Young type of scorer of the bench. And although I see prime Waiters being the best of the bunch, I don’t know how long his body will allow him to be that effective. I really worry about how stocky he already is. I just see Beal having a long, effective career playing at a high level.

Ghost01ParticipantRoss definitely has the upside. Super athletic, good shooter, has potential on defense. But it’s hard to put him ahead of Beal or even Waiters even 5 years down the road just because they have been much better than him so far.

DolanCareParticipantBest player right now? – Beal
Best player in 5 years? – Beal
First All-Star? – Waiters
Have the best career? – Beal
(The only reason I put waiters for the first all-star category is because his play is far more dynamic, with the ability to take over games more. Two things that read all-star more so).
Beal reminds me of a leaner Eric Gordon. (Less strong but can stay healthy).
Waiters reminds me of DWade, but with less finishing ability.
J-Rich is comparison for Ross. Ross can propel himself if he gets a mid-range game. He will be a tough defensive assignment if he is able to put the ball on the floor and move 2 dribbles closer to the rim.
