LA12Participant1. Best PF right now? Aldridge, best all around game of all the power forwards at the top. Would’ve put Love but injuries kept me from doing so.
2. Best PF in 5 years? Anthony Davis
3. Most Underrated? Boozer. Maybe overpaid, but that’s lead to everyone bashing him to the point that he’s underrated.
4. Most Overrated? Ibaka. Does very little outside of biting on shot fakes and blocking a few shots.
5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Anthony Davis
6. Best Rookie PF? Zeller
7. Most Athletic? Blake Griffin

2. Best PF in 5 years?
Anthony Davis
3. Most Underrated?
David Lee
4. Most Overrated?
Blake Griffin, but I really didn’t want to put anybody here.

7. Most Athletic?
Blake Griffin
8. Most Skilled?

9. Best Leader?

10. Top TWO All-Time?
Tim Duncan, Karl MaloneDamn this was much harder to choose than the others. Lots of players who don’t get enough recognition I’d want to place in these spots but these players barely won out for me. I really didn’t want to put Griffin in Overrated because I think PF’s are generally pretty decently rated at the moment, but I’d say he’s the MOST, even though I don’t think he’s that overrated.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBest now: Tim Duncan. A legit 4. I am counting LeBron as a 3.
Best in 5 years: LeBron: will be a legit power forward there playing the 4 full time.
Most underrated: Anderson Varejo
Most overrated: Kevin Love. Stats beast, huge talent. But not a winner. Not yet a true superstar.
Best young power forward: Anthony Davis
Best rookie power forward: Cody Zeller
Most athletic: Blake Griffin
Most skilled: Kevin Love. Can shoot, score, pass, and of course rebound. Needs to work on defense, leadership, and winning.
Best leader: Tim Duncan
Top two all time: 1. Tim Duncan
2. Charles Barkley0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/29/2013 - 7:37pm #838281

Memphis MadnessParticipantLots of these guys play multiple positions. Like Timmy also plays center and LeBron plays the 3.
No votes for Bosh so I guess we consider him a center now.Of all the rest of the guys I think Blake Griffin might be the best. You just have to keep a body on him. You can’t let
him get going. If he gets a full head of steam watch out. He’s also a solid ball handler and passer.I just don’t think him and Chris Paul are a great fit. Blake looked better when Baron Davis was running the show. THAT Blake
Griffin was the best power forward in the league.Against the Clips you have to guard the pick and roll, and put a solid, bigger defender on Chris Paul. Then, worrying about Blake Griffin is the biggest issue. Blake is a tough guy to guard since he is really physical but he is also athletic with some finesse.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIt’s crazy to see how far LeBron has come.
In 2011, 2 out of 44 people thought he was the best leader. And 1 out of 44 thought he was the best SF of all time.
Fast-forward one year, 11 of 28 thought he was the best leader. And 7 out of 25 thought he was the best SF of all time.
Move forward another year, 28 of 42 think he’s the best leader. And 17 of 38 think he is the best SF of all time.

KingGeorgeParticipant1. Best PF right now?
Kevin Love gets my vote. He’s a slightly better defender than given credit for and he’s a walking double-double. When completely healthy, there is no doubt in my mind that he is on of the top 7-8 players on the planet.2. Best PF in 5 years?
Kevin Love is still very young (he’s turning 25 in a little over a week’s time). In 5 years he should still be in his prime (at worst the very end of it). As long as he’s healthy and continue his production I don’t see how he’ll be surpassed.3. Most Underrated?
Paul Millsap is probably the most underrated player in all of basketball. He’s quietly been one of the most statistically productive and efficient PF in the NBA for the past 2-3 seasons and he’s never gotten the attention he deserved. Look for him to blossom in Atlanta.4. Most Overrated?
Blake Griffin. Call me a hater, but he’s not a basketball player. He’s a freak athlete who happens to play basketball. There’s a difference. Take away his athleticism and all of his “Lob City” highlight dunks and what exactly is he? There’s also the fact that he got completely punked in this year’s playoffs by Z-Bo.5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)?
Anthony Davis hands down. No other young PF has his potential on both sides of the ball. He could very well be a 20-10-2.5 player in 2-3 years if he continues to develop.6. Best Rookie PF?
Anthony Bennett wins by default. Its not like has much competition within his draft class. Still don’t know why the Cavs drafted him when he isn’t a 3 (at least not IMO) and Tristan Thompson is thriving at 4.7. Most Athletic?
Blake Griffin. Like I said, he’s a freak athlete who happens to play basketball.8. Most Skilled?
Kevin Love. He has legitimate range out to about 25 feet, is capable of putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot, has a good post game and footwork though he is admittedly better when face the basket, and he’s an elite rebounder on both sides of the glass. He’s also one of the best outlet passers in the NBA.9. Best Leader?
Until he retires, Kevin Garnett will be the best leader at the PF position. He has been the heart and soul of every team he’s played for and his in-game intensity is damn near unrivaled. Not only is he both an emotional and a vocal leader, but he leads by example as well.10. Top TWO All-Time?
Tim Duncan is without a doubt the greatest of all-time. I don’t even think it’s even debatable at this point. Second, I have to go with Sir Charles. The man averaged a double-double in 15 consecutive seasons all while standing no taller than 6’6″. Imagine if he had the luxury of playing with John Stockton for 18 years.0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/29/2013 - 9:14pm #838297

Status QuoParticipant1. Best PF right now? Kevin Love, a double-double machine, who has expanded his range to the 3pt. line.
2. Best PF in 5 years? Anthony Davis, just too much upside to say he isn’t going to be dominant in the L.
3. Most Underrated? David West, for as good as we know he is, there’s no doubt that he gets overlooked being in a small market like Indy.
4. Most Overrated? Blake Griffin, he just hasn’t grown as a scorer, rebounder or defender. It’s nice that he dunks, but even Shawn Kemp started to round out his game as he got older. Blake’s still young and hopefully turns back into the 20 and 10 guy he was as a rookie.
5. Best Young PF (2 yrs or less exp. in league)? Anthony Davis, just too much upside.
6. Best Rookie PF? Cody Zeller, he should be First Team All-Rookie.
7. Most Athletic? Blake Griffin, there’s no denying how much of a freak athletically he is.
8. Most Skilled? Tim Duncan aka The Big Fundamental.
9. Best Leader? Kevin Garnett, for all the emphasis on him yelling and cursing on court, he still leads by example on the court and in the lockerroom.
10. Top TWO All-Time? Tim Duncan and Charles Barkley.

Pau Gasol. The reason why I consider him underrated is because this guy gets so much hate by the media calling him “soft” or slow. That’s what makes him underrated, one of the best passing big mans ever to play the game.4. Most Overrated?

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe four best players (not named Kevin Love) at the “power forward” spot are Tim Duncan (also considered a center), LeBron James (best player in the game, and nearly a prototype 4 man in today’s NBA), Carmelo Anthony (plays the stretch four almost exclusively now and posses a deadly offensive game with solid rebounding skills), and Chris Bosh (basically invented the term ‘stretch 5’. Can do some of everything either inside or on the perimeter. Can guard most 4’s or 5’s. Blocks shots too).
Duncan, LeBron, Love, Carmelo, and Bosh are my top 5 power forwards in the game, even though only Kevin Love is a genuine POWER FORWARD. Next up would be Z Bo, Dirk, Blake Griffin, and Anthony Davis.
Anthony Davis might be the best power forward in 5 years (especially if LeBron stays at the 3. I think he might want to consider slimming down and playing more on the perimeter in order to extend his career), or AD could end up being the best CENTER in five years. Positions are more fluid now…

Positions are more fluid now…

theprophetParticipanti agree with your assessment on lebron and melo being considered 4s, but they are still 3s as well and more considered ath that positioin. sabonis, sikma, issel, mcadoo, laimbeer, joe barry carroll, plenty of other players were “stretch 5s” long before bosh even played in a georgia tech uniform and i’m sure there’s a few others as well.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI understand that Blake Griffin still has holes in his game, but I think people are being way too critical. So many people are saying that he’s overrated that he’s damn near becoming underrated. He’s a top 15 player in the NBA.
It’s like people forget that he’s only 24 years old, heading into his 4th season (technically 5th season) and has career averages of 20.4 points on 52.9% FG, 10.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists. His points and rebounds were down last season, BUT he played less than 33 minutes per game. His per 36 averages were 20 points, 9.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
He improved at the line last season getting his percentage up to 66%. While he’s still an inconsistent jump shooter, he’s been trying to get to the 40% mark on mid-range jumpers the last two seasons. He’s currently a 35-36% shooter from mid-range. LeBron James didn’t shoot 40% or higher from mid-range until his 8th season. Griffin’s bread and butter is finishing around the rim, where he’s only second to LeBron in that area.
Defensively, he still has work to do. He’ll never be a great shot blocker. He doesn’t have the length/reach. Best he can become is a guy who defends his own man well and who makes his rotations. He’s a work in progress. IF anybody can get him to buy into playing at that end, it’s Doc Rivers.
People say he’s just an athlete and not a basketball player. That’s false. He’s been one of the best passers at his position since he was drafted. He’s arguably the best passer at his position. He’s got good ball skills/handling, footwork, etc. He’s got a solid basketball IQ as well. Still needs to work on adding moves in the low post, but it’s not like he has none.
Reports are that he’ll be more of a “go-to” player in the Clippers’ offense next season and it won’t be so dominated by Chris Paul. I think he’s going to have his best season as a pro.

BenchWarmerParticipantDefinitley agree. Just couldnt think of someone else, I had the page open all day with my list finished but “overrated”.
Hes improved defensively, hes the best ballhandling and passing pf in the game, or atleast top 3. He finishes at the rim and rebounds well. I find him to be overrated by people that don’t follow the NBA all that much. I like your point of being underrated.0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/31/2013 - 7:22am #838616

JoeWolf1Well put, he only took 13 shots per game last season too compared to 15 + in his first to years. I think people are sleeping on him because he’s a popular guy to be down on after the playoffs last year, but I think he’s going to have his best pro season this year. I don’t know if he’ll put up 22 and 12 like he did as a rookie, but I think he’ll be 20/10/4 , breaking for 35-40 point games now and again and do so on the most efficient numbers he’s put up so far.
He still has a lot of room to grow as a player, and he has shown improvement despite not having a great year ( by his standards ) in 12-13.
