Regardless even if VCU loses by 30, I hope they have finally earned respect. Bilas was on TV again this morning not giving them a chance again FSU. I guess some people never learn. This is truly one of the greatest tourny runs. Even the Mason final 4 team was the Colonial champs. VCU was 4th place in the Colonial.

As we have seen, one game, anything can happen.

Everyone was ripping the committee for even putting VCU in the field, and now they are in the Elite 8. I have no one left to root for after Marquette’s loss today, I will be rooting for the underdog.

I don’t listen to anything he says. I lost all respect for him when he called Josh Smith a bust on national t.v. for everyone to hear including him.

I hope someone comes out and says, look, they only beat Georgetown because Chris Wright was out for so long that when he did come back, their offense was completely off, that they only beat Purdue because Purdue suspended Barlow and that threw off their chemistry, and that beating Florida State meant nothing because FSU lost to Auburn and some other bad teams. If someone is dumb enough to say that, Shaka Smart will have something else to fire up his team with, and maybe the extra motivation will be key.

It’s obvious that Kansas has far more talent, but it’s one game, and if it comes down to it, VCU has heart and determination and will. And I’m rooting for the upset.

It’s too bad VCU didn’t get an At large bid last year. Last year they had the same 22-9 record going into the post season, ended up winning the CBI tournament. Last years team was the exact same roster as this year except also with Larry Sanders, their big 270 pound big man Pishchalnikov who plays in Russia now, plus a solid wing in T.J. Gwynn. That team really could have done some damage in the tourny. Skeen was able to play the 4 because Sanders was at the 5. If Sanders and his shot blocking were still with VCU this game with Kansas would be incredible. The CAA in general though for a mid major has been killing the tournament. I think they deserve 2 bids every year. Just off the top of my head in recent years of course the George Mason final 4 and VCU elite 8 this year, but also VCU upset Duke a few years ago, also ODU upset 6 seed Notre Dame in the first round last year, even this year ODU lost at the buzzer to Butler and Mason beat Villanova in the first round. CAA always brings it in the tourny. I’d take one of the better CAA teams as an At large bid any day over an underachiever in a big conference.
