rileymcshea3ParticipantThat Rudy Fernandez dunk makes me wish Blake Griffin could of played in these games

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt is nice to see that Kevin Love’s gold medal game defense looks so much like his regular season apathy.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantNever seen Coach K look so nervous
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:41am #705709
frogmanParticipantSergio Rodriguez is looking like Steve Nash out there. And how the refs missed that push by James on Marc Gasol for a 3 point play I’ll never know.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:43am #705711
IndianaBasketballParticipantSpain’s coach should smack himself for allowing Gasol to pick up his 4th in the first half… Dumb. Just dumb.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:43am #705712
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhat a horrible coaching move, that coul potentially cost them the game. You have size advantage and you give a lot of it up by keeping Marc in there that long
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:45am #705716
IndianaBasketballParticipantWestbrook might want to finish out the defensive possession before wanting to cherry pick and get a dunk
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:46am #705714
frogmanParticipantIt’s also Marc’s fault. He knows how many fouls he is on and he made a dumb foul… I agree with you though he shouldn’t be out there
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:48am #705717
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWestbrook nearly turns the ball over after just giving up a three on a 50/50 ball on the previous possession. He hasn’t improved that aspect of his game this summer lol
Oh, now he did turn it over.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:49am #705718
frogmanParticipantAlso of note… There are some stunning Spanish girls in attendance
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:53am #705719
BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey clearly borrowed these refs from the boxing tournament. Bad both ways, but come on.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:53am #705720
IndianaBasketballParticipantLove sucks at defense, but he’s an amazing rebounder.

BlueRivers25ParticipantAnyone else wanna punch Rudy Fernandez, just because….

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea, after that flop… Now, I want to punch Fernandez in the nuts.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 4:59am #705726
frogmanParticipantToo much of foul-a-thon, it’s already 1am here and at this rate I’ll be up till 6am. Enjoy the game. And after that acting job I can see why you would wanna punch Rudy Fernandez lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:08am #705729
TallmanNYCParticipantUS would be being blown out here if not for Love’s rebounding. I have to accept the fact that Coach K isn’t going to play Chandler I guess no matter how much Spain pounds the ball into the paint. Oh well, I think the US could use the defense and the high percentage offense he brings.
Marc Gasol getting that fourth foul was a fluke play but it was fighting with Love for an offensive rebound. Drawing that foul on M Gasol is probably going to be huge in this game and . The Gasol brothers passing over the US defense was looking a little scary and with the potential to really go on a run there with quality shots. Especially if Coach K kept playing the small ball lineup. Melo trying to guard M. Gasol was funny.
0- Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:13am #705731
BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey were up 8 before he ever checked in. Pitiful defense matters. Don’t let your fanboy status change the facts.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:17am #705733
IndianaBasketballParticipantYea, let’s ignore Kevin Durant’s 17 first half points and 8 free-throw attempts. That had nothing to do with anything lol.
And I don’t think Chandler can defend either Gasol.
0
- Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:09am #705730
TallmanNYCParticipantActually, I think we have to match their facial hair. That is the problem. The US team is intimidated by all the hair on Spain. Coach K should unleash The Beard!

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIs it just me or did Pau Gasol bulk up a bit?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:18am #705737
BlueRivers25ParticipantPau is really good on offense.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:20am #705738
IndianaBasketballParticipantNow it’s Love’s turn to get abused!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:21am #705739
IndianaBasketballParticipantTeam USA would be better just letting LeBron defend Gasol… Chandler and especially Love not going to get it done.
0- Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:26am #705744
BlueRivers25ParticipantUS might be saving that until late. But I expect Lebron ti guard Pau some point in the game.

IndianaBasketballParticipantSeriously… Pau Gasol is starting to dominate this game.
I miss this from him after watching Mike Brown play him in the high post all season.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhat the hell happened there?! Commercial mid game?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:30am #705747
IndianaBasketballParticipantKevin Durant and Pau Gasol both having amazing quarters. USA has dominated the third quarters in most games… This game is going to go down to the wire.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:33am #705748
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWho’s going to step up and take over the 4th? Kobe, Durant, LeBron, or Melo?

Malik-UniversalParticipantlebron is gnna be the facilitator in the 4th
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:35am #705752
TallmanNYCParticipantSo where is Chandler? Why is he on the bench? Are they really going to play Lebron at center for a whole quarter?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:35am #705753
IndianaBasketballParticipantDurant has the hot hand, so I expect Team USA to keep going to him.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:38am #705754
IndianaBasketballParticipantPaul going into 4th quarter Clippers mode right now
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:38am #705755
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThis is team USA’s best line-up. Bron, Durant, Melo, Kobe, and Paul. They may go with this line-up for the rest of the game
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:40am #705756
IndianaBasketballParticipantLeBron getting his 4th foul is huge…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:41am #705757

0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 5:49am #705759
Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThey NEED LeBron back in the game. He’s obviously the only guy that can get this team to play together.

It actually seems like after he jumped he thought to himself "yeah I probably shouldn’t have done that".

Sewok15ParticipantSo cool to see these guys celebrate. You really see the joy they have for the game and each other. It is times like this that make you forget that these guys get paid millions to play a game. USA!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/12/2012 - 6:09am #705771
TallmanNYCParticipantGlad we had a competitive game there. I got a little nervous. The US really never found a way to stop the Gasol Brothers. The only person to stop them was Marc’s fourth foul, his coach putting him on the bench, and Lebron’s left cross to Pau’s face (unintentional). CP3 turned it on on both sides. He forced that Pau pick to be set way too far from the basket because he was harrassing that Spain guard so bad. Then he turned it on on offense.
Durrant, what can you say. Just a scoring machine all game.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe only person to stop them was Marc’s fourth foul, his coach putting him on the bench, and Lebron’s left cross to Pau’s face (unintentional).
Yea, I think these two things right here really hurt Spain. The little moment Pau was out in the 4th really hurt them.

doubledribblerParticipantGlad to see a competitive game. I had a feeling that Gasol 4th foul would change the game. On one hand you can say Spain hung in and kept it close, but it meant riding Pau and by the end of the game he was out of gas. I also think USAs depth helped a lot. While the Spanish guards seemed to wear down at the end, the USA guards were still fresh.
Other thoughts:
I really liked Durant’s aggressiveness at times. I didn’t feel like he was content with just hanging around and waiting his turn like he often does in NBA games.
Anthony can play, but it seems like his only thought is shoot the ball. He has no real concept of playing in an offense that is not centered around him.
I could only imagine how good Westbrook would be if he had any type of basketball IQ.
I don’t see how Love is so horrible at defending. I understand he can hit anywhere on the court and he’s a monster on the glass, but you have to knock him down quite a bit for his defense.
Tyson can’t guard anyone that has any type of craftiness to their post game. The NBA is a very safe place for him with all the 7 foot stiffs that you don’t have to worry about unless they are right under the basket in position to dunk.
Mike Brown should take some notes. What you saw today is how he should have used Pau. While it’s obvious Pau is not going to be the main focus with Kobe or even Bynum in the game, you can do a lot of things with him besides have him stand outside the paint shooting jumpshots and he has the ability to find open teammates.
