valentinepretty good game so far. noticed something about wall that ive noticed before and mentioned. when hes going full speed he doesnt know how to change it up, which causes turnovers or int he nba, charges. hes done it about three times int he first 5min of this game. eventually im sure he will learn to adjust that but right now thats something that hurts his game. miss st has just been steeping in front of him when he goes full speed almost at the last minute so he cant go around him and he hasnt learn to stop on the dime or jump stop

DanEboyParticipantHe is like Jennings in the sense that they are too fast for themselves right now. They need to learn how to harness and control that speed and explosiveness. They tend to play out of control sometimes because of it. Rose has that control in being able to turn it on and off at the right time.

QUINCEYjennings doesnt do that though….he did in hs but since hes been back from europe he knows when to stop on the dime and shoot the pull up or dish.

HandDownManDown13ParticipantDo you think miss st needs to win this game to get in? or are they already in?
John wall has a pull up jumper, we saw it for the game winner against western kentucky early in the season. Part of his development is going to be learning what to do and when. He’s so used to dominance in high school where he could get to the rim on every single play if he wanted to, that he tries it in college with less sucess. He’ll learn that eventually he needs to perfect a midrange game

HandDownManDown13Participantimo daneboy, jennings is very good at picking his spots. He often dribbles in towards the paint, takes a dribble back and pulls up for a 20 footer. He’s pretty good at controlling his drives

QUINCEYyeah..he learned that overseas because i remember watching some of his games at oak hill and he didnt do that alot. he could stilldo it but didnt do it alot

IndianaBasketballParticipantJohn Wall plays at one speed. I’ve also noticed that he’s nowhere near as fast or quick from a standstill position, only after a running start.

Adi JosephIt could be that he knows no one in college can keep up with that one speed, so why slow down?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 7:42am #265889
DanEboyParticipantI watch Jennings a lot and too many times he goes full speed to the rack and throws up wild lay ups. He his able to stop on a dime on the perimeter and make quick decisions from out there though. Part of his 36% shooting is a lot of missed lay ups from having nowhere to go when he gets in too close.

JNixonParticipantOrton is looking good! This is the best I’ve ever seen him offensively. Did y’all see that block/grab he just had off of Varnado’s shot??
John Wall has looked good in half-court.
Bledsoe isn’t quite as erractic as usual. Even though he is kinda still.

QUINCEYwhich isnt a good way to play adi. my coachs used to say the same thing about me over powering other guards. said i have to leanr to score in other ways and do it in the game as well as practice and it will make me that much harder to guard when i get on the next level or against a smarter defensive team…..one reason why coach morgan wooten is the best hs coach ever

HandDownManDown13ParticipantDoes miss state need this win to get into the tournament
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 7:56am #265902
IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Wall playing at one speed has more to do with the fact he struggles changing gears, not because players can’t keep up with him.

lalailaParticipantinteresting game..John and DeMarcus not playing well, if they will start to do their thing more then Kentucky will win i think…
and yeah, Patt is so underrated..when teams needs he could play like 20/10 guy.0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:08am #265906
QUINCEYyeah thats what good defense does..keeps you from doing youre thing…well will see if they can adjust in the second half
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:41am #265914
QUINCEYwow they just called a blocking foul when wall charged over the guy. miss st is still playing great d on wall and cousins
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:43am #265915
IndianaBasketballParticipantThat zone is getting to Kentucky. If they don’t turn the ball over and get back on defense in transition, they can win this game.

the I in winParticipantjdhl13, they could get in if they lose but it is more likely they wouldn’t.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:54am #265920
QUINCEYthey could get in but they could also get bumped. we have seen it happen every year so im sure no one would be too suprised either way

QUINCEYpatterson is playing well but hes been in 2 posters..lol

IndianaBasketballParticipantJohn Wall clutch time.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:09am #265924
Johnny KilroyParticipantby Wall, he will get another chance.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:11am #265925
IndianaBasketballParticipantThat was a very good look. Varnando’s impact is felt though. Made Wall settle for the mid-range, which is something he’s not comfortable doing.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:11am #265926
Johnny KilroyParticipanthere, don’t let UK get a chance for a 3.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:11am #265927
IndianaBasketballParticipantI thought Bledsoe got away with a travel there.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:13am #265928
QUINCEYgood d on wall for that shot…to the average person it may not seem like it but making him double pump was good d. kentucky just ran on the court while im typing this on a made shot, like they won the game..lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:13am #265929
IndianaBasketballParticipantThey’re celebrating like they won… They’re only going into OT lol. Basket is good though!
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:13am #265930
Johnny KilroyParticipantcan’t believe that just happened. Bledsoe did travel and no call.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:13am #265931
lalailaParticipantCousins is a monster! monster!!!!!woohoo
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:15am #265932
QUINCEYlol..yeah hes good but i woulnd say hes a monster just because he made a layup that fell into his hands..lol…..im glad its going into overtime..its been a very good game. i think miss st is in reguardless. i forgot that other kid didnt play the last time they played kentucky
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:16am #265933
IndianaBasketballParticipantMonster? The ball fell into his hands and he layed it up lol. Varnando has outplayed him today and Cousins isn’t recognizing the double teams. He’s forcing it.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:20am #265935
IndianaBasketballParticipantVarnando is putting on a defensive clinic! That zone with him in the back is causing problems.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:24am #265937
QUINCEYvanardo is a pretty bad offensive player…wall has stepped it up BIG TIME and has just hit a 3
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:26am #265939
IndianaBasketballParticipantBig shot by Wall, thought it was all luck lol. That was the backbreaker.
And Varnando is terrible offensively, other than put backs and dunks.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:27am #265940
lalailaParticipantit’s because his ability to rebound..you can say what you want but he has amazing feel for the ball, and it was just another example of it
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:29am #265941
IndianaBasketballParticipantUm… The ball fell into his hands. If anything, give Patterson the credit for getting his hands on the offensive rebound and tipping it out to Wall.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:31am #265943
QUINCEYall that is true but you said hes a monster because of that play. other then that play he hadnt been playing well and the ball went right to him on that shot and all he had to do was hit the layup which he did. he did what he was suppossed to do in that situation
good win by kentucky but i still doubt them more then kansas because they have too many games like this…which is why some say wall is more clutch then turner but dont realize that yes he hits more clutch shots but thats because they are in more close games
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 10:17am #265958
LeroyJenkinsParticipantkentucky is hands down the most exciting team this year. my dad swears they can go toe to toe with some nba teams
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 11:36am #266002
JNixonParticipantJohn Wall made plays in the clutch once again.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 11:39am #266005
QUINCEYim sorry to say this but youre dad is crazy..lol. they are exciting but they would get killed by nba teams. some peopel make that comment sometimes without really thinking about it. these teams that are bad in the nba are full of college stars. lets look at uk vs the nets..wall is good but at this point harris would hurt him. maybe int he future wall will be a better player but harris is right now and he is a vet. lopez and cousins. i love cousins and he kills college big men but lopez would destroy him as well. hes hasnt faced anything close to lopez…ll just leave it there. and take into account these nba guys are used to checking other nba stars who are bigger smarter and better
