torontoraptors10ParticipantRight now, teams are making their due diligence calls, but no signficant offers. But one mame that is eminently available is Memphis’s Hasheem Thabeet, who isn’t one of the ’10 free agent signees but is getting shopped hard by the Grizzlies, who have their center of the future in Marc Gasol. So the Grizz are looking to cut bait with the second pick in the ’09 Draft, who’s already had an NBA D-League stint, as soon as possible. NBA.com
Looks like he can be moved very soon.

apb540ParticipantI would love to see the Sixers take a flier on Thabeet if he doesn’t cost us much.

WizardofOzParticipantThere was a rumor that said that the Suns were discussing a trade with the Pacers involving Earl Clark and Solomon Jones, but a league source says that it isn’t true.

WizardofOzParticipantThere’s also a rumor saying that the Magic are listening to calls about Marcin Gortat, but I can’t find the link.

torontoraptors10ParticipantSo the assumption is in that small market in the bottom third in attendance they aren’t about to pay Mayo, and may not pay Randolph, who makes $17.7 million. If that were the case, I could see the Grizzlies perhaps taking Taj Gibson to pair with Darrell Arthur and a draft pick for Mayo, though the Grizzlies are said to want much more if they deal Mayo, which doesn’t seem imminent. The Knicks’ name has come up, which it does for basically everyone.

natedogggParticipantId like to see thabeet moved, he needs playing time to develop and plenty of teams could offer him that.
clippers spring to mind first of all with the injury to kaman.
the one hoopsworld http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=18176 that intrigues me
is thabeet to the lakers for vujacic’s expering deal, and a pick would have to be thrown in.obviously in the short term he fills their need with ratliff and bynum out and in the long term hed get great tution from Kareem.

Lotto StudParticipantAlthough Mayo is on the block now I would hate to see him leave Memphis. I think he’s a perfect fit for that system, it’s just that he has to score and so does Gay which is a conflict. Only if Mayo panned out at the 1 this summer, we would not be having this discussion, nor would Conley have got that Big A** extension. It would be him on his way out rather than Mayo.

Hey Mayo and Melo both linked to NY by NON-NY blog/website/sources.
Don’t blame NY fans on this one.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI got your back WizKid I was thinking the same exact thing. Every dam time their is a trade rumor their is always a bunch of Knicks fans saying this person would be perfect for the Knicks….When in reality Hasheem Thabeet is a terrible fit for the Knicks. He isn’t athletic or coordinated enough to play center in that system. Remember D’Antoni trying to coach Shaq and Amare? I don’t know why Amare just don’t succ it up and play Center giving the Knicks a much better opportunity to fill their front court up. It’s easier to find a defensive minded power forward then a center obviously everybody knows this. But also Amare is such a mismatch at Center he would dominate like he has done in the past for the Suns. Remember Amare played center for the Suns most successful playoff moments.
Reggie Evans once he get’s back from injury is somebody who would put the Knicks over the top as a legit playoff team to be reckoned with.
I even heard a few people mention the Knicks should try to get Iggy…Why would they do that when they’re loaded at Small forward and waiting for Melo?
But players who are surely on the block are Thabeet, Mayo, Deng, Iggy, Brand, Chandler, Gortat, Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, The whole Pistons roster, the whole Clippers roster except for the rookies and Gordon, Jeff Green, Jason Richardson, Redd, Anybody on the Cavs, Jamal Crawford, Marvin Williams, Gilbert Arenas, Nick Young, Al Thornton, The Nets roster except Harris and Lopez, and that’s all I can remember.
Over the past month I have heard these names in trade rumors and discussions, by going on Insidehoops.com everyday and reading the articles.
They had one on their today about the Cavs making a run at Iggy but the Sixers trying to throw Elton Brand in their too.
I don’t know why the Sixers are so gun hoe are getting rid of Brand also. I understand his contract is huge but he is also playing great basketball for us right now and is a real calming presence on the floor with his low post ability and veteran leadership. I actually wanna see Brand stay but Iggy must go ASAP. He can’t get traded quick enough.

sheltwon3ParticipantActually right now Thabeet would be an upgrade over the Russian so that could make sense. It would help them but at that price no way. I could see for just Bill Walker but I don’t think Memphis needs any more swingman.

joecheck88Participanti actually wouldnt mind seeing oj mayo in new york. its just a matter of who you give up. if memphis wants some cap room, you could send eddy curry and wilson chandler to memphis for oj mayo and thabeet. that leaves money to sign marc gasol. but i think memphis would want more for 2 top 5 picks from the last 3 years!

delfamParticipantKnicks don’t really need Mayo, they have enough scoring and Fields brings better defense and rebounding than Mayo could.

HitsterParticipantThe Knicks are one of the top blocking teams in the NBA so Thabeet would not really be a huge requirement for them but he could fit into their system just by rebounding and getting the ball to Felton also his size could be very useful on offence as teams have to contend with STAT as well.
After showing some good signs last year, Thabeet seems to have gone backwards this year so Memphis would get well below market value for him now. Portland might need an extra big man so they could always offer up all those stashed picks they have got?

Sonny RedParticipantDon’t get snookered into thinking Thabeet could be developed into a solid player or help a right team right away, if that was true and had the talent don’t you think the Grizzlies would see it and be developing him now? The fact that they aren’t speaks volumes to me, while he is not a stiff, he most likely wont be more then a guy who can play 18 or 20 minutes a game. He does have great size going for him though, and that will keep him the league for a long time. His situation reminds me of the time Jimmy Lynam was asked about Shawn Bradley’s development when he was his coach, Lynam candidly answered "well, the kids tall!" I also am not sold on him loving basketball and having the commitment it takes to live up to his ability. I wouldn’t have him on my team, unless I got him for a scrub.
