Jokic looks to have taken another step forward this season. We all (I think) believe KAT has top 10 potential, but until he becomes more assertive he’ll continue to be a 2nd tier star. Which got me thinking a bit about this comparison.

So, is there anyone on the forum that believes Jokic is, or will be, better than Towns when all is said and done? Towns is only 8 months younger than Jokic…. which kind of surprised me when I first read it.

    Both are gifted offensive players.

Towns should be better, based on that word ‘potential’ and his overall physical tools. But Jokic just knows how to play. Passing, shooting, defending – he can do a bit of everything. He’s really impressed me. At the moment I’d take Jokic. There’s no guarantee Towns will ever put it all together.

Jokic’s passing changes the dynamics of a game altogether; it’s contagious, so his teammates become willing passers, and everyone makes harder cuts, expecting that they’ll get the ball.

Towns might have tighter handles and make a few step-back perimeter shots off the dribble, drawing oohs and ahhs for doing so at 7-feet-tall, but Jokic’s overall impact on a game is undeniable.

Jokic seems to have struck a balance between being an imposing, physical interrior player when necessary, and being a soft-touched, finesse, modern perimeter 5-man. Seems like most bigs pick one or the other, while Jokic does both, depending on the situation. Very impressive.

Been watching thr Wolves games because of D Rose so I’ve been also observing KAT and Wiggins. KAT is a good and smart dude bit lacks the toughness to put him in that Patrick Ewing level-lite of big men. He has the tools and skills but he’s darn ass soft.

for the moment. He may not have Towns’ potential but exploits his talent 150% and has that "it" thing with his versatility and intelligence that makes his team win games. Towns scores and takes rebounds, but his play alone does not make the Wolves a playoff team

It’s a close call. While both are immensely talented offensively, Jokic’s passing and playmaking ability opens up a whole new demension and is an offense onto itself. He might literally be the best passing big the game has ever seen. Both can score at all levels of the floor, but jokic’s mental game is far more advanced right now. It’s almost like he sees the game in slow motion. It’s hard to believe him and towns are roughly the same age.

However, the reason I still maintain that towns has the higher upside is on the defensive end of the floor he has at least has the physical tools to be a high level defender. He has the length and athleticism to be an elite rim protector and the mobility to contain smaller players on the perimeter. He hasn’t put it together yet and who knows if he will, but at least the potential. It’s hard for me to really envision a scenario where jokic isn’t going to be at least somewhat of a defensive liability throughout his career. He just doesn’t really have the tools to be a plus defender in today’s league.

If I had to win one game right now I’m taking jokic. But if your asking who I’d rather bet on long-term it’s towns.

Towns looks to have more natural talent, but he doesnt seem to understand about winning,

i take Jokic, every all day,

until Towns starts showing that this isnt just a past time for himself.
