After last nights performance with 10 assist he showed me that he is a Top 3 PG in his class. Tony is arguably the most underrated PG in his class. He has the poise of a true leader from what I watched of him last night. Although all his passes were playground material, he did not force anything on the court. Personally IMO he is the best passer in this class, and  he makes the passes that Kabongo does not make. The only thing I can say that may be a knock on Wroten, is I did not see him play any D although it was an All-Star game. I wonder how his D is, because if he is a great defensive player he can be the total package as a PG. I really don’t know much about the Pitino saga with him going to Louisville, but Pitino just missed out on a GREAT one for years to come. Wroten is not a finished product yet, but I’m quite sure he has a lot to add to his arsenal, once he gets some collegiate experience under his belt. The only thing with him going to Washington, is who will play the 1 & who will play off the ball, Wroten or Gaddy. I can only imagine his ceiling, especially with him being 6’4”. Washington will have him conditioned well, so I can expect him to bulk up to at least 205-210 range, which will be trouble! trouble! trouble!(Dollar Bill voice)

This kid was the top prospect in his class at one point. People have forgotten about him, because of injuries and because of the hype of other players. Make no mistake about Tony Wroten is a impact player on the collegiate level. He will be good at the two but he can be great at the one.

yeahhh he looks like ideal sg (he measured 6’5 not 6’4) but his court vision is too freakish to play off the ball..his upside looks huge

Yeah he is very good but does it really make sense to rate him top 3 because of one game? do you think the guys that played horribly should be dropped in rankings because of one game?..What about the whole AAU season and camps? I ask because i’m reading up on him and from what ive read he doesn’t always play like this and he’s been out played by the top PG in his class.

I wonder how he plays in a real game setting where coach’s don’t want the flash

it;s not one game..he avg like 5apg 3steals in limited minutes for USA playing sg last summer , then nike hoop summit with 7assists i think…and know 16and10, that’s make me exited.

Yeah but i see he also was out played a nice amount during the summer and he tends to match those assist with a bunch of turnovers( not because he can’t stop turning the ball over but because he tries to be too fancy).

Actually i could see him top 3 in his class because other than Teauge and Kabongo there really isnt anyone else ive seen who i’d pick over him. on espn he looks like he is basically ranked tie with the B.J young kid and Josh Turner. I heard both of those guys have had good games like Wroten this past year as well

Me personally I rate him ahead of Kabongo. POW! I just killed myself with this one on the forum. I can make a case for Josiah Turner who is the #3 PG in the class, but did not get any All-Star love.

    i agree with you..

and those turnovers is his weakness..but he still has all the tools to be as good as anyone out there

I wouldn’t take him over Kabongo. Kabongo has proved all year how good he is in just about every event he plays in. Alt of people see these ( not saying ya’ll) and think a player is overrated because of what they did in these games but they dont understand these rankings are based off of a career not a couple of games. If you play great for 3 games but so so for you’re career that doesn’t make you great, the same can be said if you play bad for a couple of games.

Rivers is getting hammered on ESPN by fans who have only seen him in the All Star games and think he’s only rated high because of who his dad is but trust me this kid is as close to perfect on offense than any other player int he class and many other player sin past classes when he is on his game

His ESPN profile seems to say his only real flaw is inconsistant and being to flashy. Both are fixable. I’ll say this..ive only seen him one game and ive seen Teauge and Kabongo a couple but as far as potential, he can end up being better than both of those guys. He has a SG body with great vision, quick, nice athlete, workable jumper. Not sure what his defense is like since All Star settings don’t tell you much but he seemed to be good in that area and he has a 80 wingspan

Looking at his clips he looks like Kenny Boynton(build)……Kenny had a little flare with his game in HS but was a scorer. I just can’t see Wroten as a SG, that would be the biggest mistake a coach could make in mis-using him for his strengths & capabilities. He has that eagle-eye vision as a PG. I’m really high on Teague, but I can see Wroten as the best PG in this class when it’s said & done with once they all reach the NBA level.

Are there any character concerns with Wroten? I find it hard to believe that he only had 2 college offers which were only from Louisville & Washington.

i heard that there was Character concerns with him but that can be fixed. Washington can just use a two point guard line up. Thats been done alot in college ( Ucla did it pretty well a coupel of times in the past)

He cares a little too much about where he is ranked. That’s the only character thing I have heard about him. If he can improve his jump shot and cut down the turnovers a bit he will be a fantastic player.

He’s actually not underrated because you say that you think he’s the top 3 pg in his class and he is basically ranked as the top 3 pg in his class. So he’s rated exactly where you think he is

He is ranked #6 on Scout.com I don’t even bother with Rivals. #6 is underrated if Kabongo is #2 & Cook is #5 I really don’t know much bout B.J. Young, but I just watched some clips of him & he does not wow me, not saying I’m looking for flash.

If there really are no character concerns, why only 2 offers?

i forgot about cook. Yeah i can see him being rated 4th. Cook has been killing dudes since his Soph year and is a very good passer when he has to be. At one point he was rated as the best passer in his class

Those weren’t his only two offers. He trimmed his list down to only a couple of schools and ended up choosing UW. How much offers those top players get is probably unfathomable. Also, like others have said, his probably rated about where he should be. He’s a top 5 pg in this class. He a Jordan AA, and played in the Hoop Summit. I don’t know what more you want. Its not like he’s Stephen Curry or something who was completely overlooked. Obviously sometimes recruiting analyst like certain guys over others, so sometimes its not much that separates those top guys at a stacked pg position like this year. Its not like he was ranked 15th pg or something. If he turns out to be better in college and ultimately the pros than the guys ahead of him, I won’t be shocked, but if he doesn’t turn out to be, I wouldn’t be shocked either.

Is this basically based off what he did in the Jordan game..I ask because i’m looking through past fourms on here and i don’t see any fourms on him being overlooked or overrated

I say underrated from where he is rated amongst Kabongo Young Cook. Teague & Turner are elite to me. Turner will be a great one he is a package.

but underrated would mean he is much better than where he is ranked and he hadn’t shown during the season that he was underrated. Now if its based off of the Jordan brand classic then yeah but the rankings are based off his whole body of work not one game and its seems on average he is ranked where he should be ( i say on average because when you look at every sites rankings there’s no real big discrepancy like him being ranked 10th on one sites and 45th on another).

I’m still reading what he has done since last summer at camps and AAU events against other top guards and for the most part he has played well but wasn’t the best at in the games. The common thing Ive read is inconsistent and to flashy at times). that seems to separate players that are ranked high, consistency

He reminds me ALOT of Lance Stephenson, and even though he’s not quite as much of a knucklehead as Lance is/was, he has a chance to be more successful if he proves he can play off the ball, something Lance has stuggled with a little in the past. The talent is there, as he’s got solid size for a PG and alright plysical tools for a SG, he’s flashy and entertaining, has a decent off the bounce game, and he’s a passable athlete. He has to tighten up his shooting polish, and play smarter, but if he’s willing to improve he’ll be a very good player for years to come.

Wow great comparison Iggy. Hes like a Lance Stephenson/John Wall type. Is it safe to say he is the quickest 6’6 layer ever.

Good 1 Jorrye, because he does have that Lance playground type of flare with his passes. I really haven’t seen Wroten’s ball handling skills, but Lance’s were excellent.

Oh Canada I do not see any Wall in him at all. 6’6” is really pushing it for him. He already is a package IMO just off the strength of being 6’4” which some list him at 6’5” which is wonderful. I would hate for his NBA position to be SG.

This may sound really crazy, but I think if he adds a J to his game now, it will be a huge blow for him being a career PG. Some team will take him off the ball away from his strength, which is his passing due to his size to move him to the 2 permanetly. I’m not saying he shouldn’t work on it at all, but he is a player that will be mis-used & I see it coming ahead of time.

I live in the Seattle area, so I’ve been tracking Tony’s career for a little while.  The "character" concerns stem from scouts feeling he’s a little too flashy at times, and he definitely plays with a lot of swagger.  He reminds me a bit of Gary Payton in that regard.  Off the court, there are no concerns at all, and he’s a very good student with a 3.5 GPA.

As far as the perceived lack of offers, most programs backed off of him early because it was clear he was going to UW.  His dad played played for the football team in the early ’80s and Nate Robinson is his cousin.  As much as he messed with people on twitter, he was always going to be a Husky.

3.5GPA is incredible, so the only thing that gets in the way of Wroten is Wroten.

    • No character concerns……THANK GOD!
    • 3.5 GPA…..shows brains
    • 6’4”-6’5” PG!!!!! = +++++++++
    • Beyond excellent court vision…….Eagle-Eye
    • Playground passer…….= +++++++

Sooooo like I said only thing gets in the way of Wroten not succeeding is Wroten.

He actually had UK as his lead school before they backed off. Many schools backed off because they “heard” he had attitude issues( which I’ve heard he doesn’t and have never seen it when I’ve watched him play). I talked about him 2 years ago after first seeing him in vegas an was very impressed back then. After watching him recently i see he looks faster and more athletic since the injury
