j1232eParticipantI see him as a vinney “the microwave” type player. An excellent scorer of the bench.
or an eddie house type player a shooter that jumps arounds from team to team.0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 6:50pm #158322
canesboy6ParticipantReally, you cant tell from a scouting report just how aggressive and quick he is on defense, even when shouldering all the scoring and ballhandling load. He is a great athlete, has good point guard size and is a proven scorer and defender. I think somebody will fall in love with him late first or early second. He is just in the wrong draft because he is an NBA point but a little unproven at point, and that hurts with him so many great pure points to chose from. A better prospect than Patty Mills i think. To this day the biggest thing he has going for him is that he played well against the US in the olympics, but it isn’t like he had 40 and its entirely possible that he just had a good game against a team of stars who hadn’t gameplanned for him and overlooked him a little. Other than that, he has pretty mundane assist numbers and hasn’t made them a factor in the postseason to go with good but not mind blowing scoring numbers. Just saying. Td measured out faster at the combine, and while that might not be the purest indication, the fact that he has one of the 10 fastest times ever recorded there doesnt mean he is slow.

unofficialscoutParticipantI agree with you that Toney Douglas is a proven scorer and has good size for the PG position. The problem is that he is an undersized NBA SG not an PG. He is fast and can shoot plus play some D but he isnt a good passer or facilitator. His A/T ratio in college is bad for a PG and he never averaged more than 3 apg. He will be nothing more than a backup and an Eddie House type player at best. On other hand Patrick Mills has more potential and is a better game manager who can develop into a starting NBA PG one day. It all comes down to upside.

mbrown6495he had little help at fsu, while players like ty lawson and jonny flynn did not have to average over 20 because they had help on the scoring side. He is way better than eddie house and bigger than him. He is more like a chauncey billubs player but amazing on defense.

knicksfreakParticipantIf he was anything like Billups then maybe he’d be picked before the 2nd round. You probably just know something that nobody else does mbrown.

Scott42444ParticipantHe wasn’t talking about Chauncey Billups guys, didn’t you read it, he said Chancey Billubs
Of course, I’m better than Chauncey Billubs

JNixonParticipantI thought he might have been too slow, but he ran the fastest 3/4 sprint at the combine…so maybe he might be an ok role player. His speed was the only problem I had with him

sheltwon3ParticipantBillups D is over hyped. Billups is a clutch shooter and great Team Defender. He has never been quick enough to be that serious of a one of one defender against quick guards. Toney Douglas would actually do wonders for the Lakers except they have Brown and two trade baits in Vujacic and Farmar.

bluedevils12Participanti think toney if he got enough playing time could possible be an all rookie 2nd team player. but dont be shocked if tony gets on a championship contender and were watching him next year in the playoffs do his thing.
