There’s be a lot of talk and buzz about this freshman class but know one’s said to much about Leaf especially in mock drafts and so on.

To me he looks like a lottery talent, he;’s got it all really, especilally offensively and plays hard and smart and even looks solid defensively.

Just wodnerign if there are any glaring weaknesses that are stopping people rating him as highly as other freshman

Also shooting a really high percentage from the field

He can rebound for sure, but to say that he is good on defense is a stretch. I’ve seen him be abused when he really needs to move his feet quickly on defense.

Still very intrigued by him. Seems to have a high bball iq. I could see him going in to top 20 for sure. I like him more than Lydon.

He’s shooting 50% from theee while taking 2 per game. He is a legit shooter. Even his two theees vs UK yesterday were both right on line, one a swish the other bounced around the rim a few times before rolling out.

He runs the court hard, has terrific one on one face up skills vs bigs where he can pump fake and drive and can spin either direction. Goes up strong in traffic and rebounds very well close to 10 per game right now. He also doesn’t just rebound his area, he runs and jumps and flies in for rebounds often grabbing them on plays where you didn’t even know he was in.

Mentally he is very strong, he attacks and doesn’t ever shy away from contact or stand around ball watching. He needs to get stronger like most freshmen but he’s not weak by any means, he’s where you expect most freshmen bigs to be in that regard at this stage of his development.

. I don’t see what’s keeping him out of top 10 right now. He’s been uclas hands down MVP so far and was best player on the court yesterday vs Kentucky.

I had UK -14 on this game, but UK was outplayed and outcoached.  Leaf looked great he’s got some nice wise old man game, but he’s also a good athlete.  He came in and pretty much did what he wanted with Kentucky, that bastard.

Who is a good comparison for Leaf?

I’m thinking David West, but I’ve only seen Leaf play a little bit

Leaf is solid. Had heard that defense was lacking but I haven’t seen anything too bad from him on that end. He’s not a jumping jack "rim protector" but he’s got a good motor and a good brain – which can be just as valuable as physical tools.

Offensively he’s terrific. Great looking stroke. Runs the floor. Handles the ball and can pass. I dislike comparing him to white dudes if only because its always easy but I think David Lee would be a solid moderate level comparison for him. Think he might have a higher ceiling if only because he’s still just 19 years old but Lee, in his prime was a 20-10 guy who you could run your offense through at the high post area.

I haven’t seen that much of the guy but he did look good in a few UCLA highlights I’ve watched mainly to see how Lonzo Ball was doing. Having Lonzo to create for him is obviously helping TJ and people watching Lonzo are realising that TJ is a good prospect in his own right.

The 2017 draft isn’t that deep frontcourt wise in the lottery so a guy like TJ having a good season can propel themselves up the lottery board.

If his stock remains high, I’d assume he will declare and I’d say he’s a first round lock and will probably go top 20. His upside would be lower reaches of top 10 IMO and at the moment I’d pin him to go mid first round but as always it only needs one GM to like him.
