Man if the Raptors had managed to resign TMac and hadn’t traded away Marcus Camby for an old Charles Oakley they could’ve had an awesome team from 2001-2004.

      PG Alvin Williams
      SG Vince Carter
      SF Tracy McGrady
      PF Marcus Camby
      C Antonio Davis

with Mo Pete and Keon Clark coming off the bench.

That being said I still don’t think they could’ve beaten the Lakers or the Spurs in the finals.

It’s all just hypothetical though so what do I know…

I don’t think so. McGrady and Vince? Man, good scoring duo. That’s about it.

If they were on the court at the same time, it would be very hard to stop both. Not to mention Doug Christie, Jerome Williams, Antonio Davis. Not bad if you ask me.

Also count in the fact the

    Ego issues
    The Contract issues

Toronto would have been good for the beginning of the 2000’s but it wouldn’t have resulted in a Championship IMO.

I wish I could find the SLAM magazine where Kobe said he thought they were going to face the Raptors in the Finals every year had T-Mac resigned. My friend has it, when I get it from him I will tell you the month and year Kobe said it.

All 5 Wizards pretty much stand around all game long and watch T-Mac do his thing. It was just unfair for him on offense early in his career. Nobody that size should be that talented and smooth.

What if they had kept both of them, kept Camby, and then drafted Chris Bosh?

Thats way too many hypotheticals to speculate who would be on any team. Draft orders would be changed and team needs would be altered.

Agreed with wutever, some guys who seemed to have guaranteed HOF careers turned out to never have the full careers of great basketball they were meant to have, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Tmac just to name a few, what a shame.

Its kinda funny though looking back on it now. TMac left Toronto mainly because he wanted to do his own thing and be the man. Not play in VC’s shadow anymore. I mean yes playing in Orlando was an incentive but largely his reasons were more geared towards establishing himself as a superstar in the league not play second fiddle to his cousin.

For his part VC never showed that he would be willing to allow TMac to be his equal on the Raptors, the Raps were Vince’s team at the time and he knew it and demanded it.

Looking back on their careers now and the legacies they have, they both might’ve made a big mistake. They could’ve won a championship or two in TO and their legacies would be secure as two of the greatest players ever. Instead they will both probably go down as very good players who could never win the big one, or in TMac’s case even one round in the playoffs.

Maybe Lebron, Bosh and Wade took notes when they decided to put aside their desire to be the man in order to team up and win.
