valentineI’m a UNLV fan, and I don’t get why he’s still projected to go in the first round. I think he needs another year of college. He can’t even handle the physicality of the Mountain West, and he hasn’t dominated. I’m afraid he could turn into Anthony Bennett if he leaves after this year. However, unlike Bennett, he has a work ethic.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe has a decent skill set and feel for the game for a player his size. I could see him as a stretch 4 or 5 eventually. His potential might be enough to get him drafted in the first round if he declares. However, I agree that he is nowhere close to NBA ready and could definitely benefit from another year in school.

GBeeParticipantI think he’s still in in their draft bc they’re grasping at straws. It’s a weak draft and there has to be SOME other surprise 1 and done players to throw their names in. Same goes for Deyonta Davis, who I really like and would put him in the lotto should he declare but I think won’t get enough PT to really show GMs his ability.
I feel for those UNLV players. They have some really intriguing talent over there but I think as long as Dave Rice is their coach, they’ll just be stuck spinning their tires. I’m not sure what the incentive is to play there while he’s still at the helm unless the players and their families are getting a nice "compensation package." I understand Zim is local, but if Rice is there after this year, Zim should think about leaving one way or another.

ph90702It’s hard being a UNLV fan right now. At a minimum, we should win the Mountain West and a game in the NCAA Tournament with the level of players we are getting.

ph90702Players come because UNLV is a name brand program. Also, Dave Rice is a good salesman.

GBeeParticipantName brand program is a stretch. They haven’t been nationally relevant in a while. Playing in a weak conference with very little national visibility doesn’t help, neither does not enjoying any sort of sustained success recently.

ph90702The conference is better than it gets credit for. I would consider most conferences outside of the P5 as AAA conferences, and I would consider the MW a AAAA conference.
