I know that it’s pretty early in the season and both teams can get better. But, I believe the Pelicans and the Grizzlies should go on a fire sale and try to rebuild and get new talent on their roster.

New Orleans Pelicans – I believe they should keep Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson, and either Tyreke Evans/Jrue Holliday and trade everyone else for future assets that fit this system. They might not be good the rest of the way but they can get a Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, or Ben Simmons to pair with Anthony Davis in the future and try to get a Joakim Noah, Harrison Barnes, Kevin Durant, Donatas Motiejunas, Jordan Clarkson, Mike  Conley, and/or Rajon  Rondo.

If they spend their money right they can have a great future with Anthony Davis as the franchise player. I don’t believe this is a championship team by the way this team is condtructed. I got on the Pelicans on how they constructed this team before because I didn’t like how they traded future picks and traded/sign players that wasn’t worth it.

Memphis Grizzlies – You can copy and paste the New Orleans thing on this Memphis. Memphis should try to trade everyone besides Marc  Gasol and Mike Conley and start from scraps. They are not winning games this way and other teams are getting better. The players that they try to win with are all getting older and the way they are playing is not working, They should rework their offense so you can really utilize Marc Gasol passing abilty and use him like a better Andrew Bogut in Golden State. They should fill this team up with more shooting and more players that can bring the ball up and run the offense besides Mike Conley.

    Nice post.

But I’d like to bring something new to the table.

Anthony Davis should request a trade. Dude cant seriously waste 5 years going through a rebuild. Theyre not even close to contending.

It’s just Davis and no-one. I bet he hates it.

New Orleans just seems like one of those teams that could relocate and improve franchise value overnight.

needs to get healthy… Evans & Asik are out & Holiday is on limited minutes… In the future, New Orleans should be able to attract free agents w/ the Uni-brow signed long term & it’s a great town to live in…

You’ll never win with either of those guys.  So to say NOP will be a playoff team or do any damage in the long-run with Tyreke Evans is kidding yourself.  Tyreke doesn’t make anyone on his team better.

Evans is a solid player, but he’d be an off the bench Lance Stephenson type to me.  Evans on the Clippers makes a lot of sense off their bench for instant energy, change of pace, quick score guy.  As the robin to AD’s batman, hell naw.

Asik, Evans, Holiday, you can have them all.  AD needs a star with him, like a Chris Paul type of guy that is gonna crack the whip on the rest of the team, because AD doesn’t do that with his personality.

I mainly focused on New Orleans, Memphis, and Chicago due to slow starts or chemistry issues.

Chicago trades Rose and Nosh to Brooklyn for Johnson and Jack.

This would only be possible if the Lopez injury is serious and he’s out for a long time (again). Rose is having trouble with Butler and the organization and Noah is unhappy with his role off the bench. If Lopez is out, Brooklyn still needs to try to win as they don’t own their own picks for a long time. With Rose and Noah it’s low risk with a potential of high reward. Chicago gets rid of some pieces that weren’t fitting and brings in Jack who is a serviceable point guard who can play off the ball and let Butler be the dominant creator. Hopefully ISO Joe can start playing better, which might happen with a new scenery and playing on a winning team. Opens up more playing time for their gluttony of bigs, including Portis.

Memphis trades Randolph to Phoenix for Morris.

Memphis tries to get more athletic and more shoot-ier to be more like a modern team. Phoenix gets pretty good return on Morris who is a trouble maker there. Randolph could be there low post scorer surrounded by their attacking guards.

Memphis trades Randolph, Green, and Lee (or just Randolph and Green) to New Orleans for Gordon and Anderson (or Evans and Anderson).

Memphis gets shooters to try to fit the new NBA style. New Orleans can get a low post scorer to put beside a Davis as well as a guy to fill the hole at small forward. Maybe a little shake up is all the Pelicans need.

New Orleans trades Gordon to Detroit for Jennings and Tolliver.

This is my least favourite idea as the Pelicans aren’t getting great return on Gordon. But with Holiday not being able to play full time, his ability to play the 2 as well, and the fact that Jennings will probably be expendable, I think it’s a good idea to take a chance on Jennings. Gordon would be an ideal fit in Detroit with his shooting to play off of Drummond.

Not going to say these are going to happen, but I think these could all help both teams.

NOP are really struggling but they have key players out, but if they get everyone fit to support AD they should be okay. As said above with AD on the team, they could be in play for FAs who would not have considered the Big Easy as a legit destination. If they did get a high lottery pick outside the very top players they could easily flip it for an established player.

Memphis seem to be missing a step too this year, could the likes of Z-Bo perhaps have played their best basketball already and not be quite the players they were.

Im not buying Big Easy as a FA destination even with Davis.

All I can see is KG in Minny again.

New Orleans is one of those teams I just know will never win a chip in my lifetime. Small market, football city, high crime.

Make no mistake…if not for the NBA saving them time and time again…theyd be elsewhere.

If Anthony Davis also left…the team would relocate.

Dark days ahead for the Pelicans.

I disagree completly. New Orleans is a more lucrative place to play than Minnesota (no disrespect to Minnesota), It’s a new day when nobody really cares about the area they play at.

High crime really? Miami have a very high crime rate and players still play their and Chicago is also have a high crime rate and people still comes here. Nobody thinks about the "crime rate" when deciding to pick a team over another team.

Lolz at the notion that Davis would request a trade.

Dude literally signed a massive extension like 4 months ago.

He’s also like 23 years old. Father time isn’t exactly at his doorstep.

Pelicans will never be a free agent destination, so they’ve got to build a team the right way, make smart trades and hit on late lottery/late teens picks for now.

He signed an extension with the team that could pay him the most money.

Theres no way they can contend during the length of this contract.

Which Free Agents are going to New Orleans. Theyd need several.

And their trade chip stack is short. And cos hes so good, they wont even get high draft picks.

Maybe hes the kind of guy that likes winning between 35 and 45 games.

I have to agree with Rip on this one. Davis isn’t going to be happy with a rebuild. There’s no such thing as a semi-rebuild if he’s the only piece they’re keeping. It’s way more likely that NO trades future picks for veterans.

He’s like his own poison, too good to tank.  Unless they attract a FA, they are mired in the Western conference and are good enough to be like the middling Sixers with Iggy, Speights, Jrue Holiday, Korver, etc.

They’ll never be bad enough to draft a star (unless they get extremely lucky), but he really needs a Damian Lillard or classic Tony Parker with him.  Someone who will command and control an offense.

Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans, and Gordon…..none of them are that, and thats all they thought they’d need to build a supporting cast for AD.

To be completely honest, I don’t think AD is good enough and I don’t think he’ll ever win a championship unless he plays more aggressive and less passive.  There are way too many other young good teams coming up that will have more talent.

Philly vs. Orlando was a great example of two young up and coming teams with talent at evey position in the future.

Noel AND a first round pick (Saric) for Jrue Holiday is why Hinkie is just abusing certain GMs in this league.

Its like he stole the Pelicans underpants.
