Whoa! Tom Izzo is going to accept? I mean, I never thought he’d leave Michigan St. ..This is crazy, but I guess LeBron can do this to someone. Well, who knows if he’ll even stay..
But then again, this is just a Rumor.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/09/2010 - 7:56pm #329750
FDAPOIf Tom Izzo doesn’t take the Cavs job…… This guy has a serious learning disability. When 3 million extra dollars is invovled per year….., along with LeBron James and a pro franchise….. Uh
DERP

Manny_3187ParticipantI don’t think he’s going to accept. He’s been a Mich. St. for too long. Besides i don’t really see him becoming a successful NBA coach unless Lebron stays. He should stick to college that’s his forte.

TyroberParticipantdont see how he can turn his nose up to 25-30 million

RicoParticipantHave fun losing! Cavs are in rebuild mode.

NYK2010ParticipantCavs can rebuild pretty quickly though.
Mo Williams and Jamison need to be moved.
Izzo can’t turn down that kind of cash.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/09/2010 - 10:06pm #329776
JordanC20ParticipantIf he is smart he would stay at Mich St….he is guaranteed to keep his job there no matter how ugly it might get at times in the NBA you could be hired one day then fired the next…

Toronto16Participant@FDAPO: It’s not always about the money. In the NBA you don’t get the same control and respect over the players like you did in college and it can be very stressful. Ask PJ Carlisimo who forgot Latrell Sprewell wasn’t exactly a wide eyed college kid anymore.

OhCanada-ParticipantI think acquiring Tom Izzo is perhaps the first of a list of demands made by Lebron James in order for him to re-sign.I think what is left on that list would be.
-Releasing Delonte West
-S & T for a Max Contract/Premier UFA or a straight up signing:Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire, Ray Allen, Rudy Gay, David Lee, Dirk Nowitzki etc..There also maybe more but good for Cleveland for taking a step in the right direction.

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantYou guys all talk about job security like Izzo doesn’t have any.
Even if he coaches the Cavs, fails, gets fired after 2 seasons there will be a line of colleges making offers for him to coach their respective teams.
I say he takes the cash, tries his hand in the NBA, and if that doesn’t work finds another college job.

llperezlike spencer said, it’s not like izzo is ever gonna be out on the streets or at the unemployment line. Mike Montgommery had built a long tradition with stanford, left for the warriors, got ifred after 2 years, then got the cal job. Izzo can always have his choice of college job next and money talks along with the challenge of trying somehting new.

esperanzafleet69Participantfdapo… why would he leave his home state, a possible chance to be an all time great college coach, and his family… for the CHANCE that lebron is comin back… i personally dont think theres a snowballs chance in hell hes leavin state… hes got a much better chance of winning at state this year than taking the risk of lebron leaving…

FDAPOCleveland is incredibly close to his home… considering how much he will get paid.
