DavenSaragihParticipantDo you guys have any reason why they would even consider a SF with the 5th overall pick? Did they give up on Casspi and Greene? I say go big or go home.
I would love Cousins or Monroe. Who do you guys the Kings will pick and why?

bobforteParticipanti think they will still end up getting monroe. I think they end up trading two spots back with detroit so detroit can pick up cousins and sac will pick monroe.

rickyD510Participantkings have drafted tough players the last few drafts (brockman, tyreke, jason thompson …. kindatough?,Casspi) and i think they’re going to the same this draft with Demarcus Cousins

Brace94Participantif the T-Wolves end up getting Turner then they should get Wesley because he can play the 2 sometimes aswell. Otherwise get a big guy.

piratejpParticipantIf Cousins is there, they take him (or at least they should). If not, it’ll be Monroe. I don’t think Johnson is on their radar at all.
I have to laugh a little at the people who think the Kings will take Monroe because his game reminds of Divac. Kings fans loved Divac, no doubt about it…but they all would’ve traded him for Shaq in a nano-second.
I’m not saying Cousins is Shaq, but I’d rather have a big, nasty center than draft a guy just because he makes us sentimental for the chicken-bone-in-the-throat Kings teams of CWebb and Divac.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI think in the end they will go big (Cousins, Monroe, or Favors) but a team as bad as they were needs to consider any and all positions. A team that bad need difference makers regardless of the position. I don’t really think the small forwards being debated (Johnson, Hayward, and Aminu) are difference makers and feel both Cousins and Monroe clearly will beso the point would be moot for me, but the Kings might have different opinions.

SealioParticipantThey have to go with Cousins. Monroe may end up being an ok player but we just traded away a big softie so why would we take on another one. Cousins has the potential to be great or be the NBA version of Jamarcus Russell but i think that he is going to be a dominant player in this league for a while.
You could start Cousins and Dalembert together. I think they are both athletic enough to move without the ball so that Tyreke can penetrate and create. The kings are fine on the wing with Garcia, Casspi and Greene. We already have an athletic forward in Landry and don’t need to draft another wirey guy who is athletic but not a potential star.
Potential line-up (if they draft Cousins and Willie Warren or Jordan Crawford)
PG: Tyreke / Beno / Warren?
SG: Garcia / Tyreke / Crawford?
SF: Casspi / Garcia / Greene / Landry
PF: Cousins? / Thompson / Landry / Brockman
C: Dalembert / Cousins?0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 2:31pm #334358
piratejpParticipantCousins would probably be the first guy off the bench. They’d stick with Landry at the starting 4, and Dalembert at 5; but Cousins would be in for one of them pretty early most games and probably be getting more minutes than Dalembert before too long. At least this season – hopefully he and an improved Thompson make Dalembert expendable after that.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantIt’s 1.Wall. 2. Turner 3. Favors or Cousins 4. Favors or Cousins…T’Wolves take Cousins and deal him but Cousins does not fall to the Kings at 5…Monroe is the guy unless you want to deal with Kaun…he makes sense too…A finnesse 4 and 5 to compliment the rugged Landry and Thompson and shot blocking Dalembert…If The Cousins Monroe swap did happen you better get W.Bynum or D.Summers at least…Then you get Monroe and Will Bynum to play point guard…Reke is not a PG….Line Up…
Udrih, Bynum
Evans, Garcia
Casspi, Green
Monroe, Landry
Dalembert, ThompsonIf you trade back maybe you get Summers Too…Cousins for Monroe and Bynum….

sacphil_08ParticipantFinally someone sees it like I do. Everyone and that includes “experts” think we are going to take Monroe because he supposedly resembles our past success. There’s good reason why these experts think this and here’s why:
just about every small market team has enjoyed some type of success at some point. Take golden state. They’ve been terrible and were terrible up until around 2006. They ended near .500 and them acquired baron Davis. He obviously propelled them to the playoffs and even the colossal upset of the best team then the Dallas mavericks. Now since then the warriors have maintained this same style of play. Uptempo, no true bigs, no defense, just outscore the opponent mentality and last season playing that way they ended with 24 or 25 wins. Another example; the kings. In the early 2000s we got Jason Williams and blade and Doug Christie and chris webber and those guys and became a passing team that had no definitive closer but had a great team concept and we were able to be one of the best teams in the league that way. We played that way even after c Webb left with brad miller and those guys and it got us nowhere. My point is, NORMALLY small market teams that achieve success at some point normally don’t know any other way to achieve success other than whatever had worked for them before, and that’s what people are assuming about the kings. But I would like to know, since then how many players have the kings actually drafted that resemble those teams. Look at tyreke Evans, was there ever a dominant guard on those teams? Was there a Carl landry? None of the players we have now resemble that team and that’s what people don’t realize0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/17/2010 - 3:52pm #334391
13kavakloading the frontcourt while taking away from a position that already needed help doesnt make sense

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantIf its between Monroe and Cousins… It will undoubtedly be DC… Monroe may have been the better pick back in the day because we ran a princeton offense–Now with ‘Reke we run a different style and Cousins will clearly be the better fit and better player overall.
Now if it is between Monroe/Johnson/Aminu then I’m concerned. I don’t really like anyone other than Cousins/Turner/Wall/Favors. At least none of them really stand out.
If Cousins is gone then I suppose we go Monroe… I wouldn’t mind Wes.. And I don’t want Aminu.
As for your point, right now Greene and Casspi are the future at SF for us but I do think Wes Johnson will be better than both
