IknoBall12ParticipantWatching the magic game right now and russell westbrook is having a huge game. Big triple double going on for him. I started thinking about a thread someone posted where they said westbrook is putting up the same numbers as rose with less shot attempts and more rebounds and assists. I thought it was crazy that someone could even compare the 2 becuz i figured rose was far and away better than russell. This game would make someone think otherwise. But it is just 1 game and when i compare the 2 i have to think about 1 big factor: Westbrook has durant on his team. Who does rose have? of course russell can put up those numbers he is the number 2 option and the defense whole focus is on stopping durant. The defense rose faces understand that if they stop rose the game is theirs. This argument can work both ways though. How could westbrook play if defenses gameplanned just for him? how would he perform? And give rose kevin durant….would they have beat the lakers? its just something id like your opinions on…….

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI always favored Rose because I didn’t think Westbrook could lead a team as the #1 option, even after his big start to the season, but I’m feeling less strongly about it now. Rose proves he’s the man again and again but Westbrook may well be the more efficient scorer. The deal breaker for me is Rose’s leadership ability, the way he throws his body around recklessly and plays with as much energy as anyone in the league…Westbrook is just smoother, I think, which isn’t a bad thing, he just doesn’t inspire as much confidence in that way.

llperezthis comparison has been going on since i joined this site. It will never die. Both atre great palyers and hands down all-stars in my book. I have always sided with rose and i havent changed my mind, buts its super close and I personally dismiss the opinion of people who act like its not even close.

TC_42ParticipantIn a game without Durant this season, Russ had 38 pts, 15 rebs, 9asts. The question is how he would be on a consistent basis.
I almost made a thread about this the other day saying that the case seemed pretty much closed with Rose being a frontrunner for MVP. But Russ has been putting up triple-doubles or near triple-doubles recently.
Still take Rose though…

jerb2011ParticipantSTOP THIS STUFF!!! D-Rose w/ KD would be just like KD w/Russ. People never think about the fact that Derrick Rose plays the way he does because he IS the number option on his team. He is expected to put up MVP numbers. Russ is the number 2 option, he is supposed to be the sidekick. He shooting percentage should be higher than D-Rose because the defense doesn’t game plan to stop him. It’s all about the situation they are in, stop the comparing until Russ becomes the #1 option of a team, or D-Rose becomes a sidekick. It isn’t a fair comparison. Even when Kevin was hurt, Russ had 30-40 point games with 5-10 rebs and 5-10 ast. I say that is consistent enough for somebody not needed to be the scoring option of his team. That’s why I honestly think nobody is better. Look how Russell outplayed D-Rose in FIBA, shooting and attacking the rim. Nobody ever talks about that. Kevin was still the #1 option then. Russel took D-Rose’s minutes because he playing much more consistent. Russell is perfect for the Thunder and I still think the Lakers would have won in game 6 with or w/out D-Rose

I May Be WrongParticipantI know Derrick ROSE is faster, but by how much compared to Westbrook. I really am friends with idiots and I need to know because I gave youtube performances of Westbrook and I said that Rose has a SLIGHT advantage on RW but he’s completely one-sided and doesn’t wanna listen. Could some clarify how RW measures up to Rose as far as speed because I think RW is just a half step behind Rose

llperezthey’re both lightning fast, but rose does seem to have the edge. Here are their draft combine numbers: 3/4 length sprint: russ=3.08…..rose=3.05…. lane agility: russ=10.98….rose=11.69

JNixonParticipantI personally don’t think Russell Westbrook could carry a team the way Derrick Rose has carried Chicago. Rose to be is a notch better than Westbrook. Rose is an elite PG and player, but Westbrook is an All-Star PG. Rose plays on a team with much less talent than Westbrook, and he shoulders more responsibility, and still finds ways to be more efficient and productive than Westbrook.

Ghost01ParticipantI tend to believe that Derrick Rose, who hasnt played with Joakim Noah and Boozer together all season, Luol Deng as the next best thing, and a team that has started Keith Bogans and Kurt Thomas regularly and yes has his team 1 game behind OKC record wise, is more impressive than Russ with the scoring leader. You would think if Russ was that good and playing the scoring leader they would be 1 of the top 3 if not the best team in the league right now.

jerb2011ParticipantThe only reason Derrick Rose’s team doesn’t seem as talented is because he is the best player on his team, while KD is the best on the Thunder. Everybody who thinks Russ can’t carry a team obviously missed that 5 game stretch where he carried the Thunder to a 3-1 record with wins in Boston and Milwaukee (w/out KD or Jeff Green). There is a lot of one-sided arguments on this website, but nobody talks about the times Russ has been the best player on the court in games when everybody is healthy. In the playoffs last year, there were GAMES where Russ carried the team, but like I said, nobody talks about that. Besides, he has only played 2 full years of PG, he has been a 2 guard all his life and he has enough talent to create threads being compared to a player who came out with G.O.A.T. PG potential.

Ghost01Participantjerb….again….If westbrook is that great, and Durant is that great, they would be better then they are.

They’re both young, and if the Thunder haven’t shattered everyones expectations the past couple of years then idk what to think anymore. How about going from one of the worst teams in the league to pushing the Champions to a close game seven? That sounds pretty good to me, especially for one of the leagues youngest rosters.

LAKE SHOWThis is a useless debate Some perfer Rose others Perfer Westbrook. I’m one that Perfers westbrook because of his All around game and i dont ever go by what if they switched places or if this or if that i only go by what they are doing now. Like i said some like Rose some like Westbrook

butidonthavemoney"i dont ever go by what if they switched places or if this or if that"
Those hypothetical scenerios are trash in an argument. "Well if Player A was on Team B, then Player A wouldn’t be as good becaus–" Blah, blah, blah, blah.
That’s no argument, because there is absolutely NO way to prove or support a claim like that.
