Espn (sigh) has been reporting that the Clippers are the overwhelming favorites for Kawhi. But my question isn’t what do the Raptors do if he leaves? Lowry will be a free agent in 2020 and besides Siakam you don’t have a young guy to build around, what a bad situation.

Or they resign Kawhi, Vanvleet grows into starter and Siakam becomes a star. Looks like a good situation.

If Kawhi leaves the Raptors would be in a really hard spot. It would likely result in a total rebuild unless there’s some big name free agents who love Canada.

That’s what I think too, they don’t have a young star to really build around. If they lose kawhi they will pretty much just have to blow it up

So it depends on how it all plays out…

People said PAul george was as good as gone to L.A after our Playoff exit to the Jazz..Look how that turned out..

The question though is Kawhi’s camp using it to get leverage for either a) a 5 year deal or b) To make them make moves/not to get complacient..

However in regards to if he does full out bail for one of the L.A teams I would do the following if I was Masai..

Hit full rebuild during the draft…I would say to Kawhi are you leaving please let us know now(they are the only team allowed to talk to him pre F.A) we will let you leave just tell us so we can make other moves now instead of to late..See K.D bailing and not giving us hardly anytime to do much about it..If the raptors know in advance at least they can adjust appropriately by either signing another player or trading players for picks and young talent during the draft..

Personally I don’t like the Raptors Roster as its a little to old for Kawhi’s prime but if it is to win for maybe the next two years its not the worst roster out there however it sort of reminds me of Houston last seasons squad…Could be good but has a small window..

Toronto would still be a top 4 team in the East without Kawhi this year and next year. They beat Golden State on the road with Kawhi out. Siakam is very good and keeps getting better. Dont sleep on Anunoby either he hasnt shown it by upping his stats but his abillity to create off the dribble is improving. Besides this is a team not a sideshow like most NBA teams. They are in it for the wins not the numbers so they will always be better than at least half the league.

Not worried one bit for if Kawhi leaves.

You cant honestly say youre not worried one bit a top 5 player leaves your team. Although i do agree, if he does leave, Raptors will still be competitive. Siakan has really come along and they are deep. A move here and a move there would have them being competitive if kawhi left for nothing

You guys cant honestly believe that they wouldnt be a top 4 team in the East without him right? Leonard is great and all and I hope he resigns but Im not worried one bit if he doesnt. It would suck but we would still be competitive out East, although we wouldnt have that chmpionship level game changer. What worries me is Ibaka, Green and Lowry’s age creeping up.

Kawhi’s missed 8 games this year. Toronto is 7-1 in those 8 games and the only loss was to the Bucks in Milwaukee who is built to beat Toronto and also beat the Raptors in Toronto with Kawhi healthy. Other than that every one of those seven wins they won by at least 13 points aside from the first win against Washington which they won by 4. Won all the Western road games in there by double digits too Lakers, Jazz, Clippers and Warriors.

So Toronto is 16-7 with Kawhi and 7-1 without him and I’ll be destroyed on here for even suggesting that Toronto at the moment is a better team without him but its true. As of right now they play better when he’s not stopping the ball but yeah lets forget the stats for this scenerio because Kawhi Leonard is the 2nd to 5th best player in the world.

Its the regular season. The raptors are not a better team without Kawhi, idc what any stat says. That’s insane. So are you guys better without DeRozan too?

Your right on there. I still think he pulls a PG and stays in Toronto.

… on a lot of stuff. Specially how the Raptors perform in the POs. I watched some of Toronto´s games and I pretty much have them contending with anyone right now. They have a legitimate chance to win it all. It´s kind of hard, even for Kawhi and his misterious ways, to walk away from this level of winning…

And I agree with other posters when they say that even if he does leave Toronto will be fine. Masai is a great GM and may have some other tricks in his hat. This concept of old kind of annoy me… I´d much rather have a veteran, experienced team that knows how to play the game than to have a bunch of 21 years old with a lot of "potential" any day of the week.
