RUMOR: Lakers trying to trade for Trevor Ariza

Trying to get a 3rd team involved so the Suns can get a playmaker PG. I like this move for the Lakers, they need defense. KCP is only 25 and plays like he's 35. Question is whose th 3rd team and who will the Suns get?

love

Love it, but Lakers are actually solid defensively bro, they are ranked 9th in the league in D rating, not bad, and they are getting better ! Wish they'd get rid of Lance or Beasley before KCP though. They don't fit with Lebron at all.

They might add Beez in the trade, he can still get buckets, we aren't using him and we don't need him.

I knew as soon as he signed

I knew as soon as he signed his deal that ariza wasn’t going to last very long in Phoenix. Even though he’s a streaky shooter, he would be a pretty solid fit for the lakers off the bench as a guy with experience who can defend multiple positions and doesn’t need the ball in his hands. No way I’m throwing a first round pick into any deal for him if I’m LA though, especially considering his deal expires after this season.

As far as who the potential third team could be and who Phoenix would target, there are a lot of possibilities. I know there is a former first overall pick who is currently injured and has fallen out of favor in philly. Phoenix is known to have one of the best medical staffs in the league and maybe they think they can revitalize him. Not sure if that’s the route they want to go but at least makes sense on some levels. Minnesota also has kind of a logjam at pg and Phoenix has previously expressed interest in tyus Jones.

Give me Ariza over KCP all

Give me Ariza over KCP all day. People keep telling me KCP is a solid 3 and D guy but I see below average D and inconsistent shooting.

This is a why would you trade...

Schroder isn't going anywhere sorry...

We finally have a 6th man in the mould of Harden again in Schroder that allows Russ to get a break and if Russell is out with injury we don't sink down the standings to badly...

Also we have very little use for every single one of those players the first would most likely only be a late first rounder which would be semi useless in regards to our cores timeline..

This is without mentioning us being 2nd in the standings and chemistry issues this trade would cause..

The Lakers should go out and

The Lakers should go out and get Anthony Davis.

The LeBron-LeBrow tag team would be as good as any.

Ok, they have to trade the majority of their roster to get it done (according to ESPN Trade Machine), including Lonzo Ball, Ingram, Hart, Svi, Moritz Wagner, and Isaac Bonga (maybe somebody else too. OK, I think they have to throw in Zubac, too), but that is a sublime superstar combo. Javale McGee is still your shot blocking and dunking threat inside, Rajon Rondo still runs the team, and Kyle Kuzma turns into the IDEAL 6th man.

The Lakers would still have Free Lance, Beasley, KCP, and Alex Caruso aka Summer League Stockton in the rotation. Tyson Chandler is still a solid backup center.

NBA teams are top-heavy and the back end of the bench barely matters.

This trade might actually HELP the Lakers' depth turning Kuzma into their X Factor 6th man, gives the Lakers a great two headed center to put next to AD (Javale and Tyson), and turns Free Lance into a sort of Mini-LeBron off the bench. Caruso (aside from his scrappy ball handling) and Johnathon Williams should just be happy to be on a real, live NBA roster.

The No-Look New Look Lake Show can also sport a tough, long, grittier lineup of Rondo, Lance, Kuzma, and LeBron with Anthony Davis at center.

I can also see the Lakers picking up some interesting pro basketball vagabonds to fill out that roster.

If Lakers really think Ariza

If Lakers really think Ariza will make a difference then why not just offer up 2019 first rounder or future first rounder for straight up KCP=Ariza deal. Suns could then buy out KCP who'd likely find another team for veteran's minimum. They could use first rounder to get a PG.

Things to this trade...

KCP ''apparently'' has a no trade clause due to the length of his deal and him taking a discount for them ...

Would Ariza be solid maybe but honestly he doesn't really do anything and is sort of redundent for them unless....The Lakers had another trade lined up involving Ingram and others for a big name that isn't leaked yet meaning they need a SF..See Star names people may have mentioned- A.D,Dame etc.

KCP to what team is the question also as Suns don't really need him-some say 76ers some say other team may want him..

Whoever the 3rd team is will probably have to give up a pg to help the suns out on that front...Which is also the question to who they could get if KCP is the bait for the trade..

Personally Ariza being traded is no surprise though as he made no sense what so ever there...

KCP not really surprising but behind Hart he isn't a horrible PG for them and is only on a 1 year deal so why not keep him as he also saves you cap room this year allowing for you to be able to pick up any buyout players..So giving him up for Ariza is sort of sideways move really..

Getting Ariza would be huge,

Getting Ariza would be huge, he is the Shane Battier of today's NBA. Ask Mike D'Antoni.

Ditch Stephenson and, more

Ditch Stephenson and, more importantly, Rondo. He holds onto the ball too much. They should be after guys like Avery Bradley. Lakers are reportedly also looking at Terrance Ross.
