Now we know the rockets just got the 18th pick from Minny. And they’re doing all they can to land Howard, but what if the Magic don’t bite? Or Howard tells them up and down he’ll never sign with the team.

I still think the rockets need to move forward with this cash in the chips mode they’re in. Would you like to get back a young superstar? Yes. If that doesn’t happen I think the rockets should still try and turn 14, 16, 18, Lowery and even Martin into TWO top 7 picks to build the team around.

To me if your team is a 7/8 seed type then what are you really doing? Running in place. If you’re in grade school you’re a C student. In getting top 5 draft player your taking a small step back to take three steps forward in two years.

i think they should try the dwight trade and if he decides hes not going to stay long term then trade him before the deadline sorta like the knicks, denver trade. They can get young established peices rather then using their picks and not knowing whether or not the picks will pan out.

I don’t think they should go after Dwight. There’s almost no chance he would sign an extension with Houston. The only team in Texas he would willingly sign an extension with is Dallas. I think Houston should just try to accumulate as many picks as possible at this point. Maybe Lowry for the 8th and then Martin for a mid to late first rounder. Just imagine them having two lottery picks, and three other first rounders in a deep draft like this. I know it probably won’t happen, but it sounds good on paper.

At the very least, Houston should try and package some of their picks to move up.

     That’s what I’m saying.

Trade 14, 16, Scola to Sac for the 5th pick

Trade Lowry and 18 to the Blazers for the 6th pick.

Now if you’re the Rockets you have the 5th, 6th, Dragic, Patterson, Martin and Morris to build the team around.

What they’re doing is very risky..

Best Case scenario, you get Dwight, and he’ll get Deron

Worst Case scenario, you’re stuck giving guaranteed contracts to 3-mid first round picks…and since its worse case scenario, none of them pan out lol

I see them ending up somewhere in the middle and trading up to get Drummond..while bringing along another solid player

There’s a chance to get Evans from Sacramento, Houston should look on that

There think’n get Dwight @ any coast and D.Will, will opt-out and join Howard and then u can sign free agents, there tired of not make’n the playoffs with regular players they think they need a Superstar or 2, I can say they are real risk takers.

The Rockets should trade 14 (?), 16 (Ross), 18 (Harkless), and Kyle Lowry to Sacramento for the 5th pick (Michael Kidd-Gilchrist) and Tyreke Evans. This trade would be a win-win for both teams. Sacramento would get Ross to replace Evans and a defensive small-forward in Harkless, and a starting-caliber PG in Lowry. The Rockets would get Michael-Kidd Gilchrist to replace Budinger and a young super-star in Evans.

I think if they end up with Evans and the 5th, they would take Drummond over anyone else.

As I said on the other post, we’re trying to trade 14, 16 and probably Scola for the 5th pick.

Then trade the 18th and Kyle Lowry for the 8th pick.

Then trade the 5th, 8th, and Kevin Martin for Dwight Howard.

Rockets sign Courtney Lee and Goran Dragic this offseason for a decent price, acquire Dwight via trades and move into next offseason with enough cap room to sign Josh Smith and about 8m-12m left in cap room to fill the roster.

    Ending with:

    1. Dragic – F/A PG
    2. Lee – F/A SG
    3. Parsons – Morris
    4. JSmith – Patterson
    5. Howard – Motiejunas – GSmith

    With 8m-12m + MLE to sign a back-up PG, back-up C, and a decent SG.

On PTI they just said in addition to Howard, the Rockets are looking to clear cap space for Deron Williams as well.  It’s from PTI, so take it as you will.

Yeah, as I said, they’re also clearing space for either Williams or Josh Smith.  Hell, if everything goes absolutely perfect (which it most likely won’t), they should have enough cap room to sign Howard, DWilliams, and Josh Smith.
