I think Ricky Rubio is a terrific talent. I saw him play during the Olympic games and came away very impressed with the kid’s poise and talent. Remember folks this guy is ONLY 17years old!!!!!! And he was playing right along with the likes of Jason Kidd and Lebron James! Anybody that thinks this kid’s got game hit me up! Peace!

He’s gonna be a great player, but he won’t be playing in the nba till 2010 or 2011 because his contract buyout is 7 million euro, and he makes 80 thousand euro right now, so he’s staying in europe till he’s 20.

We will have to see how his game translates to the NBA.

I think that the big difference between Ricky and any american player in this draft is his knowledge of the game. That´s the great difference between european players and USA players. American players are strong, quick, athletic… but europeans are more intelligent playing. Ricky plays with the “brain” of a player ten years older than him. And he is having responsability and pression of professional competition from 16… If you are expecting a player of 30 ppg, dunks, jumps… look at any University looking for a new Lebron… but if you like good basketball, played with more than strong legs and arms… Ricky is your guy.

          Don´t they…?

There are lots of european (or FIBA players -Argentina/Brazil…) wich are being very important players in their teams in the NBA…

Nowitzki, Pau, Stojakovic, Parker, Calderón, Okur, Turkoglu, Bargnani, Pietrus, Rudy, Ginobili, Nené, Scola, Oberto, Marc… etc… The list is big… and each time is getting bigger…

However, this could be bigger, if the game in the NBA was something more that “give the ball to the best and let him in a “one on one”… You don´t need to be very intelligent to give the ball to Kobe, Lebron… etc and see how he shots…

I know that the defensive rules are not the same that in Europe, but when european coaches arrive to your league… you will start to understand what I mean…

Today, anybody can be an NBA coach…. you only have to put the 5 best paid players and let him play “one on ones”…

I have heard that Ettore Messina is going to be first coach of a NBA team… I think that this would be a very important step ahead in the league because the level of the tactical basketball is getting lower and lower… I don´t mean the athletic skills, speed… etc… I mean basketball.

That´s only my opinion… of course.

Who knows how good this guy will be? He could end up like Darko. I wouldn’t draft him in the top five.

but darko was all potential and no experience (plus no basketball IQ and intangibles)
rubio has seen some quality competition since he was 15…
so rubio should definitely be better than darko

He will be a bust… Definitely not a #2 pick. I also watched the Olympics and don’t know what people are raving about. He will be a top pick nevertheless because of all the hype.

NBA players are more athletic than European ones, and I cannot see him driving by stronger guards. He is not that physical so I can’t see the Jason Kidd comparisons. Maybe I’m wrong… Steve Nash is not the greatest athlete but he gets the job done. It’ll take a while before Rubio develops that kind of skill though.

    Hi everybody,
i,m from Spain. I’ve read posts about Ricky Rubio and Not all you said its correct about him.
He plays in ACB since he was 14 not 16 (18 now). It means that he plays with elite while, we at that age, were going to school. Is 1,90m, more or less like jason kidd and i think he is a talent with the ball (ball control), but much more tactical intelligence. He es decisive in last seconds and always concentrate 100%, very very good defending(cuts a lot of passes), fantastic passing vision, and really unbeliveble penetration to the basket .
He isn’t a perfect player, he must to practice shooting (even its good shooter). Better of him its he its getting better day by day.
Here is a link with soe good examples of his skills:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSBLKrZCkeU

Here some pople says that Memphisits isn’t his favourite (it’s a rumor) because of individualists players like O.J Mayo, Rudy Gay..
We must to wait to see wat happens with contract buyout but in my opinion he is a 7 million euro player because his age and skills.

It cites calculations from the UN’s transvestites anal sex Food and Agriculture Organisation, based in Rome, which suggests that another $30bn in additional investment will be needed to get smallholder agriculture working sissy crossdresser slave again on a sustainable basis.

The hype and rumors about Rubio are almost overshadowing how good of a player he is. This guy could come over and start for the Timberwolves next year and be effective. He is fielding offers from different Euroleague teams in Spain and the rest of Europe, but I think the best bet is that he is in the NBA next season. The chance to play in the NBA will be too much for Rubio to wait on, check out my article here:
