so ricky ledo decides to enter the draft, where do people see him getting drafted? i would say 1st round but its so hard to pick a freshman who hasnt played yet, that would be like taking mclemore last year before he even played this year. So i dont really know what to make of this situation, any1 think he’l be happy on draft night?

I think it’s best he follow the same route as McLemore. Ledo has more to gain than lose by returning to play, I think it will be a mistake for him to declare.

Kind of up in the air to me, he has talent, but hasn’t really proved his worth, I think someone may take him in the 2nd round, and then put him in the D-League and let him prove himself there, or if he has some stellar workouts that could push him in the 1st.

Depending on how he does at the combine he might move as high as 15. I see him as a first round talent but he might slip to the second round. Ricky Ledo is a stud. He was one of my favorite prospects entering college this year. Sucks that he was academically ineligible because I think he would have put up some of the best freshman numbers this year. I don’t know if he will necessarily be happy but a team that gets him will be because he is being slept on due to the fact nobody saw him play. Not really trying to compare because they are two totally different players playing different positions but Enes Kanter was drafted 3rd and he never played a game of college ball. He did do great at the combine. Thats why I think if he does well he will move up. What hurts him is the fact that there are other talented 2 guards that scouts have got to see play but from a talent standpoint I think he is better projected as an NBA 2 than Shabazz is at the moment due to his ability to create for himself and he has a better handle than Shabazz. Plus I think Ledo is 6’7 in shoes i which is tall for the two guard.

He actually reminds me of Joe Johnson.

For a 2 guard he has great size, can score from just about anywhere, has a great handle for a 2, & can make plays for others when need be.

Good comparison. I think at his best he could be another Joe Johnson type of player. Right now he reminds me of a young JR Smith. I think JR was a better athlete coming into the league than Ledo is but Ledo is still a pretty good athlete

Before I saw your post I was going to say the same thing.

He even looks a lot like Joe Johnson.

Looks like he is leaving, was following the [Player: Ricardo Ledo] action on twitter and saw this little tidbit from Rob Dauster of NBC Sports:

A coach said this abt Ricky Ledo: "he’s the single worst human being I’d ever been associated with on a basketball court", "program killer"

    https://twitter.com/RobDauster/status/321693732858638338

Saw a few responses saying that Coach Cooley has spoken highly of him and one guy said he was a great sideline cheerleader/honor roll student. Nonetheless, what I get out of this is major attitude concerns, as well as concerns surrounding whether he really makes your team better.

I know this was only AAU, but I remember his Albany City Rocks team going 7-8 in the EYBL. Guess you can’t take too much from that, the thing was his team also had DaJuan Coleman, Olivier Hanlan and Zach Auguste, so it was not lacking talent. Just was surprising they did not do better and sort of stood out to me.

Have seen the highlight tapes, his John Wall mixtape which was impressive and he definitely has talent. What I will say is that even with Shabazz Muhammad being a year older than he was listed, he is still younger than Ricky. He also played a season of college basketball and even with his questionable body language at times along with the Larry Drew incident, it is hard to see someone saying about Shabazz what that coach said about Ricky.

Not really comparing the two, because Ricky’s handle definitely appears to be more advanced and all, just think that you look into a lot more than just what he can do on the court. He will most definitely have to show and prove, both on the court and in background checks, interviews. His mental game was always what seemed to be making people unsure about him and that is a huge part of whether one chooses to take a risk on him.

Just wanted to put that out there. This is not condemning Ricky Ledo at all, just wanted people to know that while he is talented, there could be serious questions that prevent a team from taking him with a high draft pick. I am thinking he is a possible 2nd round pick, do not know if he can prove to be a player/person teams might risk taking higher than that.

But will he get an invite to the combine? He hasn’t done anything at the college level to get invited to the combine…..

I think he will. He was a top recruit entering college. Plus like I said earlier, Enes Kanter didn’t play a second of college ball and he was invited to the combine.

Enes Kanter was deemed lottery tho, the moment he left out of HS regardless of what year he was going to declare, Ledo isn’t as touted as Kanter was, you heard Kanters name every time UK was on that year or period when they were talking about college big men, I haven’t heard a word about Ledo.

Ledo is the definition of a high risk / high reward player. I think he would have led Providence to the tourney this season if he was allowed to play, and I think he could be on a close level to Shabazz at least in terms of draft stock. I think he could be an 18-20 ppg scorer at his peak. If I’m a GM in need of a SG and he falls out of the lottery, I’d be willing to roll the dice on him. Best case scenario he turns into a starter. Worst case he’ll provide an offensive spark off the bench for whatever team takes him. I haven’t seen him enough defensively to see if he is an NBA caliber defender yet though.

I think he’ll get drafted, even if it’s only in the second round. He’s just too talented. He’s silky smooth, has a great handle, excellent passer and can shoot at all three levels.

He’s one bad work out away from being undrafted. This decision doesn’t surprise me with this kid.

Care to elaborate? What are your thoughts on him as a player and do you any personal stories, or things you have heard?

He’s unproven, has no career college resume against high level competition to base an opinion on, he also seemed like he was a one dimensional player in high school against high school competition. He will probably be a 2nd round pick or undrafted player

      Terrible and Foolish Decision.
Why would a team invest millions of dollars on a player that they haven’t seen play or perform at a high level in college. One of the reasons why the NBA owners wanted high school players to go to college is because NBA owners did not want to pay millions of dollars for a player that is not ready to play in the NBA and a player who hasn’t proven himself against higher levels of competition

Stupid decision, because in order to be successful in any goal you want to achieve in life. You have to prepare yourself, utilize the needed wisdom/understanding, and develop the needed qualities and skills that would help you succeed.

Siggy he’s also a couple of workouts away from being a lottery pick. Jeff Goodman of CBS currently has ledo 17th overall and he says numerous scouts tell him there is no way he slips out of the first round and could work himself into the lottery. Can you also name a more talented offensive player than ledo in this draft?

I think if someone can get all of his potential out they will get a real diamond in the ruff. if I were the bulls I would take a shot on him in the first round if he has good workouts. if he stays focused, he could be a real asset to d-rose in a year or two.

that exact same point but my tablet crashed. Look at the shooting guard thread there are far from any sure bets. His stroke will look great in drills, he moves well, will be able to show his ball handling an explosiveness and in one on one or three on three drills which I believe is the max they can have play at one time hell look fine imo. Hopefully he used the year to strengthen up some. I hope he gets a first round look but some reason mostly the year of no action I worry he slip tp the second as hype plays a big part in the draft and sitting out doesnt get you much pub.

Also with the age situation and the expected ‘bigtime’ draft next year this might be a good call
