don042488ParticipantBefore his collegiate season started, Ricardo Ledo was considered a potential lottery pick….Ruled academically ineligible to play for Providence, Ledo missed the entire 2012-2013 season…Now Ledo is using workouts to jockey up draft boards….I don’t understand why his stock has fallen so low for not playing his entire freshman season when EnesKanter became the #3 pick and didn’t play a single game for Kentucky…I feel any team picking in the mid to late 20’s can get lottery type talent by choosing Ledo…He’s worth the gamble in the 20’s of a weak draft

drk3351ParticipantI wouldn’t take a guy who didn’t play a lick of college ball in the 20’s unless he wows you in workouts.

B-ball fanParticipantI don’t know enough about Ledo to really say where he should be ranked, and I don’t love using high school performance to predict NBA success, but Enes Kanter was a big man with tremendous physical gifts and a developing skill level. It is much harder to find strong, coordinated big men with shooting touch than it is to find scoring 2-guards, which are probably the most plentiful commodity in the NBA, which is probably why Ledo fell and Kanter didn’t. Also, Ledo’s history of academic issues and his showing up to the combine in relatively poor shape probably don’t help him.

larryfiskenParticipantScoring two guard isent that easy to find, at least the ones who are not undersized.

B-ball fanParticipantIt is hard to find really good ones, but NBA benches are littered with scoring guards. Perhaps it is tough to find shooting guards who can defend or can score efficiently, but it is much harder to find skilled post players. Part of that is simply because there are fewer athletic, coordinated people in the world who are 6’10″+ than their are in the 6’3″-6’7″ range.

druneave3ParticipantYou don’t understand why is stock has fallen? 3 different High Schools, academically ineligible, character concerns, and a high body fat percentage. Despite all these concerns, and possibly others, I agree he should be given a look higher than the second round. Mini-Melo. Not too many guys have that scoring ability.

cuseflynn10ParticipantI’ve been saying he’s been undervalued for the longest time. Would you rather gamble on a guy like Ricardo Ledo who could have all star potential or could be a complete bust or would you want to pick someone like Jeff Withey who will probably be good, but nothing special. It’s not every year that you can make the playoffs and potentially come away with one of the top prospects. I’m not saying that Ledo will be the ROTY or anything, but I believe he will have an NBA ready offensive game, and will be worth the risk in the 20s. Plenty of players bust after the lottery. But not a lot offer the potential Ledo has.

strobox88ParticipantAcademically ineligible probably isn’t a reason as Ben McLemore was in the same position during his first year at Kansas and look where he is on the big board.
I truly believe the biggest reason is his lack of college basketball experience. No one has ever seen this guy play legit basketball games at any level higher than high school. Kanter was an international prospect who likely played in some leagues that were at a higher level than high school basketball, so his game was probably much better evaluated than an American high school stud that never played in college and decides to go pro.
When you look at him as a prospect, it’s easy to see how Ledo could have been in the top 10 if he played this past season seeing as there are no SG in the lottery with his combination of scoring/shooting/handling abilities (the closest probably being C.J. McCollum). Most of them can score, but are lacking in the handling department. Offensively (scoring ability + shooting touch + handling ability), he might be the best SG in the draft, but since he’s unproven, we’ll never know until next season rolls around. I’m really high on him though; Ledo’s one of my sleeper guys in this draft. The best we got on him from sitting out this past year is that scouts say he was very impressive during college practices, so the upside is there.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantWhy didn’t he play in the D-League or over seas?

Wahoo757ParticipantYou have to remember that he’ll be a 21 year old rookie with no college or professional experience. He has just average size, length, and athleticism, so even with his skill set I think he should be really happy to go late 1st early 2nd.

thunderjerkParticipantI’ve heard he is absolutely flooring the competition in workouts and that he could be one of the best shooters in this class. The guys at SLC Dunk got to go the combine and they said the GMs couldn’t take their eyes off him. There are definitely some red flags with this kid, but I think he could be one of the better players to come out of this draft if he goes to the right situation.
