I know everyone loves to talk about the freshmen because theyre shiny and new but let’s take a second to talk about returning players that are going wild.

Marcus Smart – Gone for 25 or more 3 times in 6 games and is making things look easy.  He has a refined jumper and looks like an NBA player.  Team USA helped this guy be ready for season and its clear that the coaches of Team USA knew the guy was gonna be a stud.

Stat line: 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 4.2 steals in 27.4 min.

Doug McDermott – Hasnt scored under 20 a game this year and while I’m typing this, he has 16 in the first half of his game.  There is no secret about who is taking the shots on this team and people have yet to come close to stopping him.  Another great call by the guys at Team USA.

Stat line:  27.5 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist in 30.3 min.

Kevin Pangos – Just a crazy good shooter.  He is averaging 22 points a game, over 7 three point shots a game is and shooting 49.1 percent from down town.  He has scored 27 or more 3 times in 7 games.

Stat line:  22 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1 steal in 32.3 min.

Kyle Anderson – He doesn’t get much love but this kid is going crazy this year.  He may be the most well rounded player in the nation right now.  Only knock is he cant shoot.

    Stat line:11.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.2 blocks in 31.4 minutes.

Juwan Staten – I know ive talked about him before and this makes me a homer but Staten is playing great right now.  Biggest thing is he isnt missing many shots and isnt turning the ball over.   He only has 7 turn overs for the year.

Stat line:  18.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.9 steals in 35.7 min.

He struggled a bit last year, especially early on, but he heated up as the season went on. This year, he’s become UNC’s go-to guy as a sophomore.

His stat line: 22.4 PPG, 3.6 ast, 2.8 reb, 1.4 stl, .4 blk, percentages: 53/53/93

Roscoe Smith and Khem Birch have been revelations for a guard challenged UNLV team. Both fellows are averaging double-doubles which is just about unheard of at the collegiate level.

Shabazz Napier has also put the team on his back, doe.

T8DS, Kyle Anderson isn’t only the most well-rounded player in college hoops, but he’s also the most valulable.

When have we ever seen a 6’9 PG who can score, facilitate, and bang?

    Hey Magic.

    UCLA is back.

Size. Athleticism. Efficiency. Depth. No weaknesses.

I want to say this is a Final Four team.

    More on that to come…

Anderson is tough but let’s wait and see before we say he is the most valuable guy. That UCLA team is nice and if he can keep up stats like this, he will get my vote for POY.
